The brigittae/merah hybrids are documented as being sterile- but they can reproduce together.
Also, merah and brigittae overlap geographically...
Its laugh out loud bad.
Not even the great keV spacey can redeem the utterly diobiolical script and story with his comical overacting.
Say 10 hail Marys
1 episode of house of cards as punishment
What's the best method for measuring pH in a very soft water fry tank?
My tds meter reads much higher with the tank lights on.
When it comes to plants, a better service and cheaper plants can be had elsewhere.
I did recommend Maidenhead aquatics wimborne, but for the last year it's been one big tank of death.
Multiple dead fish, often in the same tank....
I don't think I've been in a great shop.
They all have serious issues.
Every single shop .
Sounds like complacency to me.
I wanted a few Java ferns.
After postage it worked out at almost £30 .
Co2 bubbles will diffuse in the water or reach the surface and be lost.
So, you want the co2 bubbles to be suspended in the water for as long as...
Serenity now...... Insanity later...
Your tanks look fantastic.
Purigen will make your water super clear but its not necessary.
Just run what you have and forget about it.
On ukaps no-one can hear you scream.
Do not do that again.
Ive had lots of both, never seen a difference in quality.
Except for the invitro plants- tropica wins easily
That takes me back 23 years!
Its definitely worth buying a good frame, it'll last and can be uograded for years.
I've still got my 94' RALEIGH M-TRAX .
I got my orange evo8 new in a sale with £400 discount, being British, its slightly less value than most of the competition and only the top priced...
Its fossilized in the garage somewhere!
I see 29ers have caught on since I last went bike shopping
I saw a puffer sneak up behind a bigger puffer, bite him and shake it like a dog with a chew toy
Going to try this
Mine are on a mix of jbl sansibar and unipac Samoa.
They are constantly foraging, along with prolonged periods of being absolutely motionless.
I'm a sucker for roots and epiphytes.
It'd going to do something, but remember. A lot of it comes from feeding the fish.
Just keep an eye on ammonia levels and be ready to do a...
I blame Volkswagen
Did you test tds upon your return?
Actually, plants with copper will need multiple soaks and rinses in fresh tap water to get rid of the copper. Just to be safe.
So a 10% bleach solution ?
The only time my pygmy's leave the substrate to browse the upper plants is when the lights are off, and my tank is low light.
40w over 260 litres.
My pygmies spend 99% of their time on the substrate.
All the dwarf Cory's do, really .
Think I'll.stick to my orange...
Looks like a clam?
It looks over 40 ppm
But that could be due to macro ferts?
Microdevario are also prolific jumpers.
They don't care about much but will go over the edge
In that tank, 12 at least.
Even then , they will spook easily.
Looks like a fungus or bacteria bloom.
Its normal in new set ups
Stick with what you have and don't think about it. Ever again.
I want to see some eleocharis mini mixed amongst the carpet- they give a great texture
Cory's deserve sand, a nice soft substrate for them to snuffle about on.
Mine used to be on eco complete- its sharp and tough- not great for...
Looks epic already
I have lots of this in my tank
My corydoras pygmaeus are thriving.
There was a bad batch 2 years ago
Cpds vary in quality.
Have a good look for deformities before buying any.
A lot are tank bred now, and its easy to find lots with bent spines and...
Shouldn't reduce flow, unless your filter uses larger diameter hoses.
I had to pay £30 for the 9 they had left.
But in the past I've payed £1 each.
It varies wildly for chilies.
My local have cpds for...
I had to contact Maidenhead aquatics head office, they found me the last ones at the Havant shop.
Haven't seen any local to me for over a year....
Boraras brigittae, pygmy Cory and a squadron of their fry ! and otos
Airline costs about 50p a metre.
Little airline clamps are about £3 for 2.
Just tighten a clamp around the airline, using the screw to adjust flow...
I do 90 minutes with a drip .
Usually because my soft water compared to that of local shop water.
I hope they are in your quarantine tank, they could wipe out your existing stock.
Aquamanta and jbl look exactly the same, probably are.
How deep does a soil layer need to be in order to get things moving?
Why don't we put you in charge!?!
Depending on hiding places, and the eggs surviving the 4 day development, you might get one make it.
23 litre is a bit small though, good chance...
Unfortunately, our wildlife pond ended up turning into a 6' deep koi pond, with a shallow section for plants and fry, the fish demolish the plants...
You'll find the pond plants will be much more vigorous in their second year.
I use tnc substrate plugs and the plants go beserk.
You can't beat...
I'm surprised they like it
They tend to hover like puffers and gourami/betta
Mine did, for the first couple of times
Have a nice cup of tea, put your feet up :-)
You need to remineralise the ro with something. What ever you use will move the pH .
Ro is so soft that anything can effect its pH.
I bet your tap water is over 8, if you leave it to stand over night.
I'd be worming them. Might even save the thin one.
Would eleocharis vivipara be too tall?
This is exactly why I gave up with high tech.
Sounds like co2 toxicity.
This little tank wouldn't be out of place in anyone's home / collection.
Do you feed the plants at all, or is it fish waste fertilisers?
Perhaps he had a hot date and was going to bloomingdales to buy her a hat?
I think that sums it up for me.
What a coincidence,
Was watching a nature thing from Sumatra yesterday and I thought ' those crypt flowers are weird'
Well done though!
Just say hi.
There's some uncertainty as to what actually is an amano shrimp.
The fakes could end up being the true amano, due to vagaries regarding...
Mosses would be good.
Fissidens is great, but slow growing.
Riccia is nice but needs re-tying often.
Bolbitis heudelotii- gets big but creeps
Microsorum mini/ petit- small Java fern that creeps.
Anubias nana will expand and creep.
Very cute characters
But also completely psychopathic!
Look.like planes coming in to land.
Full ei could double your tank water tds.
Or just use some substrate in a bucket to start the filter cycle?
Unless of course this is also an outrage?
It appears that the ADA ammonia...
Its blahblahblahblahing ridiculous.
As you say.
The substrate will release a lot of ammonia, probably 6 +ppm worth. This can be used to cycle the filter/...
Get out of it .
A new bucket , new filter media an air line and 1 ppm ammonia isn't going to set anything back or kill of the bacteria-. There...
Even just in a bucket with an air line and a drop of ammonia will kick start it.
What's the tank temperature.
Just noticed my new group in the q tank are glass surfing
Temperature at 30 degrees ! Oooops
They're all male !
Youre off your trolley!!!
They will be able to escape.
My microdevario would get double that height !
And your avatar is quite possibly the scariest thing I've ever seen.
One of us is quite mad.
Are they a thing?
I seem to remember them from biology...
I ordered some yesterday!
That's a novel idea.
And quite mad!
I was pondering this issue last night.
You don't see people putting delicate liquorice gourami into high...
I went completely low tech.
These guys are not suited to high tech.
I'm not saying some people don't have success.
Its not quantity - its a group...
Mine hated co2 , bright lights and high flow
Home base stuff is good
Or use jeyes kleenoff.
Get one with no additives
Add ammonia, if no fish are present.
Any ferts will raise tds.
Full fertilisation will raise tds substantially
I agree with manu
embers must weigh about 5 x more than a boraras and look to be a stronger, tougher fish.
Plus, they are gems in their own...
Plastic tubs from tesco etc
Only a few pounds.
Its your tank
But there's got to be a more suited fish.
I used to have 30 brigittae in my high tech, but they hated it.
Microdevario would be...
High flow is exactly what boraras don't like.
They live in tea stained puddles
With no flow , very dim light and zero nutrients .
I can't really...
They will jump if its dark and you turn the lights on
Separate names with a comma.
