Yeah that's the best way I'm the same I don't like getting grown up fish prefer to get them young and watch them grow to mature fish :)

Yeah tbh I reckon I will end up getting rid of the lid and getting over the top lights I like the whole open top tank, gives a new perspective and different viewing from above, yeah but we all learn from our mistakes mate no one was it right all the time
Looks cool mate what the plant that grows out of the water? Or at least slightly on the water lol I love the fish choice very refreshing having something different on here for a change :)
Lol there nice tanks mate only reason I got this one is because the Mrs said it goes with the decoration on the front room (only way I could have one) Also I got a great deal on it aswell from the shop
only problem I had was I had to add more light for my high tech setup which was easy enough...

Not the biggest but sells a massive massive range of plants, fish n tanks, also stocks all the ada product range, very helpful and friendly staff aswell.
I personally am not a fan of red plants at all just don't like the look of them don't no why.
I prefer different shades of greens in plants in high light, co2 setups like some could be dalr or light green, some a slight hint of red (which I like just not the whole plant)
To the aquascape game...
I have a 2 year old n a 5 year old mate I have a high tech pressurised co2 system I simply put a lock on my cabinet doors my son n daughter can't get anywhere near it,

Ive been keeping planted tanks now for over 12 years n I suppose it all started with growing up wit my dad keeping fish tanks as I was growing up.
Well I have 3 tanks a planted nano, a 180l planted praecox rainbowfish tank...
Yh it can be expensive im lucky I have a loacal shop that sells it plus a place called the green machine here in the uk has free shipping over 75 pound and the soil comes to 105 pound so thats ok
Emperor tropicals in plymouth is a great shop. What they lack in size they more than make up for in quality they have just won the best retailer of the year in practical fishkeeping magazine and they sell everything all the ada products and all aquascaping equipment its brilliant.
Im in the uk and have used ada amazonia and ada power sand in tanks they work very very well imo but saying that I have a 240l tank with dirt substrate and I get good results with that aswell
