So starting another cave scape, this time the dimensions of the tank are weird, it's 18"*12"*9" (lbh)
I want to make 2-3 bridges in the limited depth creating a cave with light falling through it. If anyone has reference pics please post them, I saw one done by hamsa Arif which I really liked...

Golden bee shrimps added
At first I thought I'd add boraras sp. But realised that the stone will hide the fish. So instead went for sundadanio Axelrodii "blue"

My propagator. Actually more like a dump spot. A place where I put plants that i have no space for.
In it there alternanthera reineckii mini, java moss, peacock moss, thiudium sp., monte carlo and selaginella sp
Thinking of CBS or rilis with galaxy rasboras.
I referred to a book by readers digest called wonders of the world. Lots of inspirational landscapes in that book.

Haha yeah I'm waiting for the HC to cover the whole bridge and the moss to cover more area.
These rocks are very jagged so the stones below have interlocked very well without any additional support, the bridge portion I've used an adhesive to bind it together. Its holding well.
Thank you...
There are 49 species of barbula recorded here in India. Almost all are purely terrestrial. Some which are said to be aquatic are either hard to find or hard to id. So they all have to be tested and tried.

Only the top portion is glued. Rest sat in place thanks to its jagged structure.
Here's a time lapse.
I've modified it further more after the last pic was taken and plan on making two more modifications during next water change.
Hope you guys liked it!

Haha thank you. I'm loving nano and pico scaping. After my exams I'm gonna get a lot of small tanks to scape with!
Just can't live with myself when there's an empty or unfinished tank! I have to finish it! Adding moss is just one thing.
In two weeks I'll be starting work on my very own...
You can make a high tank planted tank with epiphytics. There's no issues of that.
You just need to increase the water flow and keep the water cool so the plants will grow well.
A high tech epiphytic plant choice can be the following:
Bucephalandra (pink, red, blue leaved)
Colored crypts...
Quick phone snaps. HC Cuba started doing well after adding a fan.
Japan hair grass is packing in.
o also added few crepidomanes sp. Here n there.

Yes we do get females. And we get some other darios called Dario kajal and Dario flame.
On Facebook you can contact a person named Andrew Rao. He's in charge of exported the most number of Indian native fish. I'm sure he can help you guys out if you place a large enough order. He's got the most...
Azolla is good to absorb excess nutrients, especially nitrates. Also amazon frogbit IMO.
Remove it after the first few weeks.

Aaah great, but all those states that you mentioned? They're not very rich in aquatic plants due to the climate. The next time you come to India visit the following states:
Uttar Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh
Orissa
Karnataka
Kerala
These states have the most varied amount of plants. I will try to...
You seem to know India well, where are you from?
As for the height, the tallest I've seen is 2.5' in length. Temperature here where I stay ranges from 26-35° celsius. In our tanks we maintain it at 21-26°.

Yes it is an Indian stem plant. It grows in muddy slow flowing streams. Its always flowering. And fish such as gouramis, shrimps and killifish hide in it.
Another pogostemon variety found in central south India is pogostemon deccanensis. Slightly larger than erectus

Some hobbyists here have somehow kept it by feeding mainly micro pellets or frozen brine shrimp, but most of us get the wild collected ones and they only go for live feed such as white worms and grindals.
Some have also slowly tamed it to have micro pellets. A close relative to this fish is...
Guys, it is a badis badis. A micro predator hats found in several parts of India. Warmer regions where its found has a golden tinge with dark stripes. Whereas when its found in cooler areas it tends to get shades of blue, pink or red.
They have amazing attitudes and are very active.

India is home to 86 varieties of fissidens as per a survey conducted it 2010. Now there can be more. Most of them are purely terrestrial but some can be grown in submerged conditions. Here in this pic I've placed a mini fissidens variety I had found. It was dormant for months before it sprouted...
I thankfully had some more HC, So I replaced it. Hope it does well.
Lights are 36w pll. So its high light and I've seen to it they get good light.
I also added fissidens fontanus now. I hope that latches itself.

A bit of the HC melted away while I wasn't home. But new leaves seemed to have sprouted over it. Should I leave it as it is or should I do something about it?

Will try to get a pic of that.
Here's a fern that was collected in the western ghats of India. Its a microsorum variety. The leaves have roundish tips and grows very short.

Hey guys just wanted to make this thread to display aquatic plants which are found in India.
Here, in my country one needs to pay lot to get aquatic plants which they desire for. Some of our native mosses and ferns especially are exported. Some of us here didn't even know of its existence. We...
Sorry for the delay. I had to change the soil on the bridge as the particles were too big for HC. So changed it, replanted the HC added some diced peacock moss here n there too.
Hope you guys like it. :)
yet to add more moss and fissidens.
Thanks martin!
A small update:
Added Japan Hairgrass to the lower regions of the tank in the crevasses.
Added a mist maker to help in DSM.
added few more small stones and soil on the bridge.
Thanks guys! The tank size is a foot cube. Since its small I'll either be keeping just shrimps (carbon rilis) or a school of danionella priapus.
Can someone help me with filtration? A canister is out of my student budget so I thought I'll use a HOB and a small internal filter. Will this be...
Thank you! Few of the rocks I cut using a hammer. Some I found it as it is.
These are actually used as bricks for construction in coastal south India. So I guess that's why some are flat.
Thanks Tim.
Hey guys my first post/thread on UKAPS.
this is my first scape which is a bit next level for me. Got the idea of it from a book.
I used Laterite stones which I collected Behind my house. And for soil I've used amazonia and white sand as decorative.
Right now I've left it in DSM for the...
