Could be a driver thats gone. Or a loose connection some where or even a single led thats broken its not an easy fix unless you know what you doing.

Quick tip you can use api ph test kit the blue one as a drops reagent too. And to see if it works just use your breath. Breath out on the drop checker till you see colour change this might take upto 30 seconds.

Best for your plant will be difficult to answer. As @rebel said any 6.5k will do but if you do not like a simple 6.5k then mixing reds and blues and greens will be good as these will benefit your plants too and the way your eyes view your tank.
