    ADA Mini M

It was planted Feb 27th. It was fully filled in and thick about a month later; you can see the Mar 14th photo in the 1st post for a rough idea of about 2 weeks of growth after initial planting. It really exploded near the end of March and I trimmed it once but apparently not enough as I ended...

    ADA Mini M

It’s been planted since day one, though it had a trim about two weeks ago. I used about one and a half pots from Tropica for the initial setup.

    ADA Mini M

Just a few updated pics. The Rotala H'ra that I ordered didn't survive the shipment - I didn't get a shipping notice so it got left in the mailbox over the weekend and we had a cold snap (-10c) that week. Will have to order some later. (sorry for the glare)

Rivers Edge - ADA 45P - planted and filled

Cool, thx for the link. That is going to be one happy betta. :) Wish I had got the 45p for mine instead of the Mini M for the additional space. Have you given your betta a name yet? My daughter insists that all of our bettas must be named. :)

Rivers Edge - ADA 45P - planted and filled

Wish I could find wood like that around here. Is that really manzanita? The stuff I ordered a while back looks more like: http://www.treelocate.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/manzanita-branch-pile.jpg ... much lighter in colour and also more thin and branch-like. I love the rich smooth...

Nice setup. What kind of rock is that?

    Nature Path 2

Just be aware that some mosses really don't like being dosed directly with Excel. I would definitely take the BBA infected rocks out before it spreads as it doesn't look too bad at the moment. Good luck.

    Nature Path 2

You may want to consider adding some fast growing stem plants along the back, even if temporarily, to help out compete the algae. You can always remove them later. That light seems awfully powerful for such slow-growing plants and moss. Edit: Just saw the BBA on the mossy rocks as well. You...

    ADA Mini M

Thanks, much appreciated. I think it'll look even better once I get my Rotala H'ra in. Might also add some hydrocotyle tripartite on the left side to flesh things out a bit - though a bit hesitant as that stuff grows even faster than the Rotala and can get really ratty if you don't keep up...

    ADA 90P triangular composition

Yeah I’ve had a lonely unboxed 90P in my basement for the past year and a half. Sad I know. Been waiting for ADA to release a LED-based Solar light so in a way it’s worked out (I’ve had my 60P and Mini M to play with). Looking at your pictures, it seems like one light will be enough. How...

Natural Aquarium attempt - 16/06/2015 (pics)

Old thread but all I could think about when reading it was: change the substrate! You tried virtually everything but that. Kudos for you sticking with it but either their is something wrong with your water or the substrate was the problem for your choice of plants. I've only been in the hobby...

How do you like that Solar RGB? Considering picking one up for my 90-p - from your pics it seems more than bright enough!

    ADA Mini M

I was thinking I should use something a bit bigger than eleocharis sp. mini as I had it in my 60F and it didn't get very tall - though it was extremely prolific and spread rapidly, which might be a problem with the glosso.

    ADA Mini M

I still have to wonder if I should add some add some Eleocharis Acicularis to add a bit of variety. Any other suggestions?

    ADA Mini M

My previous scape with my tank (no journal) was somewhat neglected due to life and work and ended up getting a bad case of algae and I wanted to try something new. So I transferred the RCS and betta to another tank and began the task of rebuilding. Tank: ADA Mini M Lighting: ADA AquaSky 361...

Critique my hardscape Manten/ancient stone hardscape options

These are all just suggestions ... it's more important that you like the end result since you're the one staring at and maintaining it. Honestly though, I'd just give up and sell all that stone to me. :p

Critique my hardscape Manten/ancient stone hardscape options

Good point. In the shop scape the stones carry your eye from the top left corner of the tank down to the right...leading right to the bonsai, which depending on shape, could reach back towards the "mountain" which draws the eyes back to the top of the tank - a nice circular flow.

Critique my hardscape Manten/ancient stone hardscape options

The one issue I see with the "pass" is that it is somewhat occluded by the stone in front, so you can only really see it from a specific angle. That perfect viewing angle seems to be very close to the corner of the aquarium such that you can get some odd viewing artifacts due to refraction of...

Critique my hardscape Manten/ancient stone hardscape options

Gorgeous stones but something doesn't "feel" right looking at the pics above - almost too artificial or symmetrical, primarily those two smaller rocks at the front. I don't know, I really liked the 2nd scape that company sent you, but...I don't know how it would look with a bonsai tree...

Found fish gasping tonight...what the heck.

Thanks guys. So is a "medium sponge" like the blue coarse pads you get from Eheim, that sort of thing? I've already got one in my classic 350/2015, between the mech and substrat, is that enough? Originally, I had bought a clear canister to be used as a pre-filter, which would allow me to...

Hydrogen Peroxide & Micranthemum Monte Carlo

I have a Mini M, with lots of Monte Carlo fore- and mid-ground and have dosed h2o2 on the branch wood and co2 diffuser without any issues. I've never applied it directly to the MC before, but given how bloody fast my carpet grows, I don't think I could kill it short of pulling it out.

Found fish gasping tonight...what the heck.

I just had the weirdest thing happen in my 60-p. Around noon today my wife and I noticed all of our ember tetras swimming at the surface while the RCS seemed to be making their way up the branch wood to the moss at the surface too. At first I thought CO2, but the drop checker was deep green...

60p - Agent Orange AKA 'Roof on Fire'

Indeed, looks very tranquil. I'm thinking of getting the Solar RGB for my 90-p - crazy expensive here though $1100cdn! You're one of the few people with a journal that has one, so I've been living vicariously through your pics while I try and make up my mind. :) One small aesthetic suggestion...

    James ADA 60p Iwagumi Journal

I'm jealous of your blyxa... mine doesn't seem to want to grow at all. It just sits there, a little clump in a sea of Monte Carlo carpet, which I'm starting to suspect is the problem :p. It's in a Mini M w/CO2 + Aquasky 361 and everything else grows like a weed!

    Nature's Path

The tank looks awesome and really love the layout. A small suggestion on the pics though. I'd consider dialling back the post-processed DoF / blur that you're adding to the 3/4 perspective shots. It feels distracting and muddies the lines of the tank and the plants; plus it makes me feel like...

    Dou's Various Tanks (ADA 60P, Do!Aqua MiniM+Cube, 90x30x36, etc.)

Oh no, not my guy. He's one of those "oh don't worry about me mr shrimp ... I'm just coming over to look at you ... NOM NOM NOM". :D He's eaten about 20 shrimp in the past 2 months lol. I just keep telling myself it's mental enrichment for him to hunt them down. Most of the time they get...

    Dou's Various Tanks (ADA 60P, Do!Aqua MiniM+Cube, 90x30x36, etc.)

Cool, going to give it a try: more water changes, better spot treatment. I might have to relocate some of those RCS...they are really getting out of hand lol. I'd put some in my betta tank (Mini M) but he'd probably eat himself to death (plus I'd feel back for the shrimp hehe.)

    Dou's Various Tanks (ADA 60P, Do!Aqua MiniM+Cube, 90x30x36, etc.)

I find sucking up detritus tricky sometimes because all my RCS come out and try to clean the tube then get sucked up. ;). I switched to cleaning sand/soil using a 1/4 water line tube, which helps. But yeah, I think I’ll try doing more water changes; usually I do a 50% water change once a week.

Nice work and pics, though the GIF seems really grainy. I really like your office tank - nice mishmash of plants. I'm fighting BBA in my 60p right now that was likely introduced through a pot of bolbitis that I got from my local fish store. I didn't see any on there and I washed the plant...

    60P Nature Scape

I had to laugh at this as I'm dealing with the same thing right now. My first scape with sand and I've quickly realized that cories, especially Panda cories, like to rearrange the aqua soil onto the sand when I'm not looking. I like how you addressed this issue...fits your scape well. ;)

    60P Nature Scape

Looking really great! I kind of wish I had scaped my tank that way now, unfortunately can't change it as the wood is zip-tied to egg crate underneath. Where did you get the mini Bolbitis from?

    Dou's Various Tanks (ADA 60P, Do!Aqua MiniM+Cube, 90x30x36, etc.)

Really...wow! The leaf structure doesn't quite look like what I've seen in pictures (yours looks nicer). I love the deep green to it. How big does it get and is it trimming friendly (i.e. doesn't look messed up or not grow back properly if you trim it)? I feel like my new 60p setup needs...

    Dou's Various Tanks (ADA 60P, Do!Aqua MiniM+Cube, 90x30x36, etc.)

I really like that custom 90cm tank of yours. Whoever built it did a nice job as it looks pretty clean and the dimensions are sweet! My first aquarium was a custom starfire tank that I never actually used due to starting a family; the dimensions are similar to the Mr. Aqua 20 long, just a bit...

I joined this forum just to tell you how amazing your aquascapes are. :) I just recently got into the hobby myself and have a Mini M and 60F as well as a 60P and 90P that have yet to be started - I absolutely love what you did with the 60P. Out of curiosity, is the sand in the 60P ADA Colorado...
