As shown in the picture my nitrates are high I’ve checked from the tap and hardly show up so going to have to get this down as I gather this will be a major factor with the algae
ive started with profito but not sure on other minerals too add . im not after a hitech set up but as its 7 ft and has a few plants just dont want it to be an eyesore with algae . as discus are the main focus

im currantly setting up a new tank for discus it 60 "x24"x24" and was toying with leaving it open topped with no cover glass like my existing set up but rather than run the usual overhead / pendant lights has anyone tried a wall mounted type light like halide or mercury vapour ? cheers pat

thanks for your replys what i will do is set th ph on the controller at say 5.5 as a safety net should my system fail so i dont gas the fish , should i use the co2 constant or on a timer in conjunction with the lights thanks again for your help pat :D :D
