Thanks Edvet this is a good read, I will need to read through over and over again to digest it,
but I still need a direct answer to my queries :) as I'm in the middle of settling up my tank so..
Hi guys I just got myself garden soil coco peat and clay for a nano low-tech tank (45x20x30cm)
but quite confused bout the arrangement.
My intention is to build up 1.5" of soil capped with 1" or maybe less of black quartz sand
as for clay and coco peat do I mixed with the soil itself or should...
Hi as I am having a 3ft hardscape tank keeping 5 altums for a year, my pH level is always btw 7.5-8. I thought of bringing down to at least 6.5 by using more natural ingredient like peats as I believe those man-made chemical pH down products will screw up my water perimeter now or in future...

Plan to setup 90x45x50cm biotope tank using eheim 2217 and 2213.
Do you guys suggest I setup a biological filter on 2217 with biohome and seachem matrix and mechanical filter on 2213 with mr aqua ceramic rings and coarse pads. Or having identical biological and mechanical medias on both filters...
Have been researching and asking everywhere even the retailers, seems like eheim prime function causing alot of problems even leaking if prime is hit too many times or you have been using hard water. The suggestion is not to use the priming function and prime the water manually instead. Yes that...
On second thought for the 3ft biotope 5 x altum tank , think i will stick with 1x2217 instead. Would it be a good flowrate to clear fish waste and good circulation for oxygen?
Hi George I noticed that most of your 120cm tanks with altums or scalare filteration is always around 2400 l/h. Is this the requirment for fauna?
How do we determine flowrate for this fauna I' wondering.
Got myself a 3x2x2ft tank thinkin of setting up mainly for altums.
It will be a biotope...
Thanks guys for your suggestion, have been reading up regarding 2080, most user felt that 2080 is a sensitive fragile equipment, easily breakdown and even having hard time to diagnose the problems. How true is this?
Hi ok have been scouting around, it seems like most altum/scalare keepers would prefer flowrate around 2400l/h for 4ft tank. I take this as a gauge for keeping altums. With that flowrate it able to maintain a gd water perimeter. Was told that altums have no problem in this fast flowrate as well...
Got myself a 3x2x2ft tank thinkin of setting up mainly for altums.
