    Tank Refurb... Asian

I have a couple of those cories, they look great in a tank and have great little personalities, always being busy rummaging about. They are expensive, got mine for £16 each from MA's Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

    Cardinal tetra alternatives?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions... I've never really thought about pencils, I'll have to have a closer look at some. I've always liked the cherry barbs but I already have a bit of red with the odessas so I'm looking for something a bit different. Is there anything that may be hiding...

    Cardinal tetra alternatives?

Hey all, Although my dwarf gouramis, odessa barbs and orange laser cories are brilliantly colourful, none of them really 'pop' or 'flash' under the lights like I know some cardinal or neon tetra would, they all kind of blend in a little or keep under cover in the plants or shadows the majority...

Help - Dwarf gourami sick :(

Hi all, Just a quick update, it turns out he had a fairly large piece of moss lodged in the back of his mouth. I was watching him with some food as he has not eaten in quite a few days now and noticed when a piece of flake sank straight into his mouth that he spat it back out again. At this...

So apparently cyanobacteria is to thank for everything on earth's sense of sight... I feel bad now for trying my hardest not to encourage its growth! Thanks BBC for 'the wonders of life' I always find that kind of thing fascinating! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Help - Dwarf gourami sick :(

I've already got the sick one in a hospital tank, un treated with anything at the mo, will try the 30 min dip as suggested above. If he recovers I will definitely consider adding a female. Would 1 do or should I add more? Is there a recommended m/f ratio? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Help - Dwarf gourami sick :(

Oh ok yeah maybe someone may know if I've got a problem having 2 males and no females. I've not noticed much bullying to date, if anything its the 'bully' that's not well, they have fairly separate territories of tall plants they can hide in at either end of the tank. They usually only chase...

Help - Dwarf gourami sick :(

Its not actually, I got two pairs but both females died not too long after getting them due to me being impatient and adding too many fish at once and over loading the filter! The two remaining males have been fine since though until yesterday. Does it make much difference both being males...

Help - Dwarf gourami sick :(

Thanks for you comments and that video link. Great video, ill definitely give that a go. Do you think 30 mins is enough or should I go for the 2 week/new fish approach? I've had the fish pretty much from the start, perhaps 4 months. I have 2, the other seems fine. Sent from my GT-I9100...

Help - Dwarf gourami sick :(

Hi everyone, hopefully you can help my dwarf gourami! Last night I found him laying on his side on a branch of my wood. He was breathing fairly heavily but not excessively. He seemed ok the day before. I caught him and put him in a hospital tank to keep an eye on him. He seems very...

    "Nature's Envy" Chilli Rasbora Pics

I've heard of mixed success with fissidens grown this way as its a fully aquatic moss usually. I have tried it on a rock like this and it all looked good to begin with, I even submerged it after a couple of weeks and it held on quite well and seemed in good condition, well, until I put it in a...

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

Hey Michael, my growth is reasonable but I don't have any high co2 demanding plants or high light levels (40w t8s over 33 gallons) although saying that the growth rate definitely improved once I added lc and ferts. I choose lc over gas as it's just so easy to use for a beginner like me. With...

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

I've been using easy carbo for about 4 months, all my fish, shrimp and plants seem fine with me using it at the highest recommended dosage. I've just run out and not managed to get any more for the last week or so and I haven't seen any noticeable problems with my plants but I have noticed...

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

An update a bit later than I'd planned.... Anyway here is the latest full tank shot. You'll see I've moved a few rocks about and the plant life has grown fairly well. I'm finding it not looking very green though, the red plants are our growing the rest and paired with the cat litter...

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

No idea what the rock is, I got it from my lfs which was just labelled as rock, sorted into colours.. Very useful! I picked it cos it looked good dry, got it all in the tank and some didn't match as well as I thought (particularly the bit under the root), I've had another rearrange since those...

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

Hey sorry only just seen your reply! A sign I'm not updating this often enough I think! I had fungus for around 6 weeks so if you still have some it should go soon. I never scrubbed mine once it appeared, just large weekly water changes. Journal update coming soon... Sent from my GT-I9100...

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

Just a quick update: Since last time I have upgraded the filter to an aqua one aquis 1200lph external filter (I had awful trouble getting it bled properly! But great other than that) I've had a big trim and small rearrange. Everything is nice and stable now and doing well, I've seen 2...

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

Everything seems to have calmed down, not lost anything for a little while now and everything looks ok. Had a little rearrange and trim of the grass followed by a water change yesterday and took a few pics, it's grown in load since I started dosing :-) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

Hi everyone, sorry for not updating since the first post. I'm having a few issues which I've explained below, hopefully you'll be able to help. I let the tank cycle for 2 weeks and although that's not a massive time I nicked a test from my sister and found ammonia and nitrite looked ok. I...

Fluval Roma 125 - first attempt

Hey all, finally got the tank and bought all the innards minus the fish and set it all up last Sunday. Just doing a fish less cycle now. Apologies if the post seems a little disjointed or full of mistakes, not got the hang of longer posts from my phone yet... Just a quick list of everything...

    Aquascaping rocks

The Japanese koi company don't have dragon stone, they do have various random stones sorted into colours and types. Unfortunately nothing named specifically apart from slate and lava stone. All stone 2.99 a kilo, slate 99p a kilo. Picked up a few interesting pieces today :-) Sent from my...

I'm based in Luton, a journal will definitely be started in the next few days, picked the tank up this afternoon. :-) I had a water spec sheet which I put up here a little while back, I'll find it again when I get on the pc. I like the chilis, something a bit different from the cardinals I...

Getting a fluval roma 125 tomorrow, going to get it all planted up (fairly heavily) over the next week or so and cycling for a while so I'm starting to think about which fish to have as a nice varied community. I'm planning to get a decent sized chili rasbora shoal, and a decent shrimp/otto...

    Newbie taking the plunge!

Thanks guys. I better start learning the plant names.... The Roma I was planning to get has 2x 20w T8's and is 33 US gal so 1.2w/us gal - should be OK non-CO2. Might consider the very similar MA tank that has the T5's - similar price I think, would this be too much light for a non-CO2 tank??
