Nearly a week later and I have my new lens. Still don't understand my DSLR or lenses in manual to a degree but the shots seem to be looking better anyways. Just a simple re-crop, no sharpening, or PS tricks...

Looks very poor! I've also had issues with them in the past too when I ordered some coral sand. Also with TGM too with some plants arriving nearly 5 weeks after ordering. IMO. I will only ever order plants from Aqua Essential, got them next day! Great service!

I don't think it'll be too bad, as long as LCD is ok, buttons work etc. The filter has two casings so it's pretty hard for it to leak ;)

It makes sense what you say however with my G3 I have no issue, the glass lily pipe inlet lets in plenty of water. If enough wasn't getting in i'd have noise issues and reduced flow, it is neither. However on a G6 where the turnover is 30% greater than the G3 I couldn't say whether that would be...

Haha, don't worry, I knew what you meant ;) Purigen is a water-clearer. Should make your tank look like there is no water in it! I agree, great filters, I wouldn't use the fine 75micron pre-filter on it, they get clogged up within a few days so pretty useless. I use reducers on mine, the G3...

I have 13mm lily pipes on my G3 without any problems, of course the G6 is more powerful though...

TDS of 150ish, KH of 4, PH of 6.3. 50-50 RO and tap water, 24 degrees. Plants havn't seemed to grow at all yet, only been five days since I planted though... I'm really impatient! The crystals are really interesting though, there's 15 of the little buggers. They seem to love being blown around...

They are usually sold with sand, at least the TMC ones are. But most of the marine guys will put some pearls in there instead to reduce No3 + Po4. A skimmer is used to then skim out the bacteria that will use the No3 + Po4. Obviously in a planted tank that's not what you want to happen ;)

I'd go with the JBL, cheaper, more filter volume and bigger turnover...

Might make it a little hard to work on, and out og those three choices i'd go for the hairgrass as it's the easiest IMO. You could then plant E.Acicularis at the back for a nice effect ;)

Blyxa Japonica? Not exactly a background plant but it's easy and quick to grow and looks great...

Tank half full - Excuse the messy living room, who knew planting was so bloody messy! There is a cat disguised on the first photo...

I separated each pot into 4 equal parts and planted them which gave me 64 nice sized Eleocharis chunks to plant. The whole thing has nearly carpeted with just these 16 pots :D

I also agree, I think the pebbles add alot to, don't get rid ;)

Good decision swapping out the Hygrophillia for the Japonica, subtle differences make a massive change. I'd leave the wood in there ;)

Haha, i'm trying to not make it boring... I'm trying to take as many pics as possible too. I know in a week or two it'll be time i'll change it again :D Plants growing so bloody slowly too! :P I know what I want it to look like and will stop at nothing till it does!

Looks good, agree with the comments about the heaters, get an inline, will keep it more stable and get the equipment out of the tank... When are we seeing this planted??? :D

You'll certainly need a bigger tank for that fish soon enough ;) However lighting wise how about- 2x TMC luminaires- will do 4ft long and apparently 80cm front to back (Just shy of 3 ft). 1x Maxspect Razor 300w bit of shade towards the front but shouldn't be too bad. (Only with different lenses)

Haha, marines seem easy compared to planted tanks sometimes. It's certainly more hands off but everything has to be perfect which makes it more difficult. Not got any P.Erectus in yet, I have P.Helferi in there. The Erectus is pretty easy to look after... You going co2 set-up? Seems most people...

Spend a good amount of the day chopping and changing the tank, drained filled up, moved around, god knows what. You guy will soon learn that I won't stop messing around till it's perfect :p The final scape is done, these photos are teasers. I have finished it and it is different to the photos...

Get the 35mm lens, the DX sensor in the camera will make it 52mm. If you got a 50mm then the DX sensor will make it 75mm ;)

Increase Co2, Increase flow, reduce lighting photo period and intensity, provide more ferts. Usual stuff

I understand what you mean buddy. Been thinking about it for ages. There's just something not quite right with the Rootwood I feel, been staring at it for ages and I think it needs to be changed. Anyways this is the Manzanita I am getting.

Not really enjoying the Redmoor Rootwood too much so have just ordered some Manzanita wood which should be here Thursday/Friday. Will look much nicer than what I currently have!

Having an issue with 'dust' like substance all over the rocks, wood and plants. I was very careful on not disturbing the substrate much at all. Any known way to get rid of it? I guess it'll be rubbing the plants and do constant water changes...

I got my lights fixed in the end, I ended up spending a few extra pennies and got an 8 way multicontroller for the lights. I have planted around 2/3rds of the tank. I am still waiting for the Eleocharis Mini, E.Tenellus, P.Erectus and Weeping moss to arrive. They should be here next Friday. I...

Will look a bit more natural and when next to the Juncus Repens and E.Tenellus should look really nice. Will be using a bit of E.Acularis to 'soften' where the hardscape meets the Mini Hairgrass. I will definitely use Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo' in a scape in the near future though for sure...

Really nice looking tank, one of the best 'Dutch' style tanks i've seen!!! Even if it's not a proper 'Dutch' ;)

Think I may add Eleocharis Mini instead of the Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo', would suit the tank layout better...
