The slightest trace of copper will kill the shrimp.

Is there an optimum lights on period for CRS Shrimp ?

A tip! don't do a gradual change do a drastic one. Go for the lights ON for 11hrs and see what happens that way if a change is going to happen it will do so sooner rather than later, then work backwards reduce that change for the result you want.

Is there an optimum lights on period for CRS Shrimp ?

Sound like a similar set-up to mine, no co2, well planted and only CRS stocked. I tend to concentrate on the well being of the plants, let me explain. If you have a healthy planted tank the eco environment within that tank (to an extent) takes care of it's self and in doing so the shrimp should...

    Tiny snails.

They more than likely did come from the plants. I would recommend that the best policy is to get rid of them and you can probably do that without an assassin being introduced just pick them out of the tank by hand. I always maintain that any livestock in my tank is there because I introduced it...

    Fishless planted tank

Well lets get back to my thread! As you recall my 28/30L tank had finished cycling and I was about to introduce a few shrimp, to see how things went as I was satisfied with water condition readings. Ammonia zero - nitrite zero - nitrate 5 - pH 7.2 - copper zero - Gh 10dGH - KH 2.2dKH - temp...

    Fishless planted tank

Patience is a virtue as they say and my fish-less cycle has finally finished. All the plants have been doing well and are still healthy completing a 50% water change 4 days ago as recommended by the guys at "The Green Machine. Next up, it's the shrimp, so this weekend I will be on the hunt for...

    Rotting Plant Stem Disease

I have a 30 Ltr planted tank that is 14 days into a Total Fish-less Cycle . Fishless planted tank

Something that I forgot to mention:- my fully planted aquarium is in it's 3rd week of fishless cycling. It's at a stage whereby the amonia readings are < 0.25 and reducing and the nitrite level is 5. So not fully cycled enough to introduce any fish. Would you still recommend 25% 30% water...

    Fishless planted tank

As I'm new to this hobby doe's anyone know if I should be doing water changes to my 30L fishless planted tank and if so, how often should I be doing them. I understand that I would need to do them at say! 25% per week if they were inhabited with livestock.

Substance ID: Growing on Suction Cups

I'm 5 days into a fish-less cycle and one of two pieces of bog wood has developed a growth of white mold/fungus. I've looked at many forums and there are varied opinions on whether it's detrimental to plants and/or fish. Many views ranging from "leave it as it will go away it will go away...

I was in The Green Machine last Wednesday it was jaw dropping, such a pleasant change from the normal run of the mill LF shops. I'm in the process of looking my at getting one of their aquariums, the open top and suspended/drop lighting effect appeals to me and the quality is second to none.

    Cherry shrimp and Co2

It's finding the balance and the only way to do that is to play around and tweak things gradually to see if you can see a difference that effects either plants of the fish.

    Cherry shrimp and Co2

Matnez my friend,as you are aware I'm no expert but as part of my learning/research I recently visited The Green Machine in Wrexham. One of the questions that I asked them about was the need for Co2 in an aquarium especially an aquarium this is stocked with only shrimp. There advice was that Co2...

Hello everybody. I'm new to the hobby, still in the research process but I have made my mind up what I want. It's a shrimp tank say 25/30ltrs. Looked at a few different makes of tank but I think I may settle for a Fluval EBI or the Fluval Flora, same tank, different equipment. I also want to...
