    Opinions needed urgently

My favorite are JBL's.. Best filter for the price. Strong, easy to source parts and most of all silent. ___________________________ Luis @ghostsword

    Aquamanta EFX External Filters

I really like the jbl's, got three now, two e900 and one e1500, and cannot fault them.. :) silent, powerfull, easy to clean and prime, just perfect.. :)

    Aquamanta EFX External Filters

The best filters I have found to be the jbl's.. :) not eheim.

I had one, boxed on the loft now.. good powerful filter, and cheap, but noisy. But it is powerful and cheap..

    JBL e700

I only use Jbl, got a e1200 and two e900. They are silent and great work horses. Even with lots of purigen on the canisters no flow drop. Amazing filters, much better than eheim in my opinion. ___________________________ Luis @ghostsword

    External Filter recommendations ?

I would say buy good and buy once. JBL's are superb, I replaced all my eheims with jbl's, silent, and powerfull. :) Bought them second hand. Got two e900's and one e1500.

    ADA Vuppa

It would. I got no film on my tank, no skimmer and no lily pipes. I use the eheim set 2 grey pipes. :) Would like to get lily pipes, but with them being made of glass and me being so clumsy, I think that in the end I would break them, thus a waste of money. Also, this large metal thing on a...

What filter would be best for 28L tank?

The aquaballs are nice fish, and yes, the whitecloud minows are great fish for a room temperature tank, you can have it in a variety of forms.

What filter would be best for 28L tank?

Put some guppies or endlers. One male and two females, then add a amano shrimp. For filter a eheim 2013 is good enough. ___________________________ I don't know what is the secret of success, but the secret of failure is trying to please the world!

    New ADA surface skimmer

I would add a CO2 difuser to it and make it a mix of both. :)

Filter Issues: Eheim Ecco Pro & Tetratec EX1200

Filter Issues: Eheim Ecco Pro & Tetratec EX1200 Taking stuff to a shop is always the best option, that is why I very rarely buy stuff online. Ok, online is cheaper, but when things go wrong what do you do with it? Post it back? What if they do not even reply? But buy it on a shop and then take...

    Aqua one aquis

The eheim classic is indeed a very powerfull filter, not fancy and will work for a long time, and there are ready parts available for them. I am on the look out for a 2260 classic, a very large filter with a very good output. You will always find parts for eheim's.

    Peristaltic Pumps.....

When I am away I half the CO2, drop the light duration to just 3 hours, and stop dosing ferts. I have been away for 1 month without any issues. Mother just had to fill the autofeeder once a week and drop some algae wafers every two days. Only issue I had was that some plants broke the water...

    Peristaltic Pumps.....

I wouldn't mind setting up a medical drip for easy carbo. I wonder how many people see a pain the dosing. First thing in the morning is the dosing of 10 to 15 ml of ferts, and a dash of easy carbo. At that time I check if all is well, if co2 has started, timers are working, feed the fish and...

    Peristaltic Pumps.....

Maybe I'm missing the question, but why is exact quantities everyday needed on the tank? Why not just tip 15ml per day? Unless you travel for long periods of time. What I would like would be a drip system to drop the 15ml per day, in slow drops, it would probably be better used than doing the...

    "Stumpy" 17mm glassware inlet?

"Stumpy" 17mm glassware inlet? I would also buy a 15cm, my wabi trays are 20cm tall, and it is short enough. A 15cm lilypipe would be very versatile. Edis, do say when they are available, call them GF 15 model! :D .

    "Stumpy" 17mm glassware inlet?

"Stumpy" 17mm glassware inlet? It does make sense. Juri is also on the forum, he's the one supplying the new glassware to Eddie. Maybe he can get it made shorter, I'll buy some as there would be more versatility, as one would be able to have a large wabi with a proper filter.

    "Stumpy" 17mm glassware inlet?

"Stumpy" 17mm glassware inlet? Yep glass is king. :) So can you make yours to measure? Maybe there is a niche market, shallow tanks are indeed good. .

Thanks Darrell, I have heard about Alder cones, this would suitable for people trying to match the soft water parameters for some fish or shrimp. Thank you Clive, That point is taken on board, and your tips and input is always welcome. So it is safe to say that using peat and other water...

I bought on ebay some acrylic ones.. They are very good, and do not break so easily as glass may do.

How often d'yer wash yer balls?

I just rinse the media on tank water every two or three months.. So far so good, no issues. What I replace then is the activated carbon, and the filter wool. This time I will replace the activated carbon with coco husks in a filter bag.

ADA Range of lillys whats the difference?

Thanks Viktor. I got a 1200L/ph filter on my 120L tank, and a Koralia. With the outlet and inlet on opposite sides of the tank. The Koralia is pushing water on the front of the tank.. Now that makes me think if I need it after all. :(

ADA Range of lillys whats the difference?

Thanks, I will invest on one then.. :) Good question, but to know the answer I will need to try out, and I currently my tank is doing so good that I am not keen to do it just to see if there is a difference. :D

ADA Range of lillys whats the difference?

Hi.. The ADA units, how strong are they? I would like to get a set for my 16mm/22mm pipe, but I am worried that they would break after a while. The idea of using glass is appealing, but glass is still glass.

    Filter materials

Yep, Altum Angels is a good example, with some many fish dying in transit why keep them? Quite sad. About peat, I wasn't aware that the peat fields were in decline, and will research further on the subject. Almond leaves are not suitable for me, as I do not use the peat to stain the water, but...

    Filter materials

I live in London and my water is almost all composed of rock.. With peat on my filter and CO2 I get my water to be around 6.5 ph, which is perfect not only for the plants I have but also for my fish. Are peat bogs in decline in nature?

    Filter materials

I would just use peat, micromec ball, sponge (very cheap) and carbon. Of the JBL the only one on my filter is MicroMec.

Do i need any more flow??

Fantastic, it is always nice to see fish playing on the flow.. :) They do seem to have fun.. :)
  40. ghostsword

Do i need any more flow??

It seems enough flow ... The eheim 2080 moves 1700lth an hour, and the E1500 does 1500lth, and the fluval 405 at 1300lth so you have just over 10 times your tank per hour. Adding the Koralia's at each end, it may even be too much, in my opinion. What do you have on your tank that needs...

External filter for 90 Litre planted tank?

Hi, I have got one of the new filters sold by Maindenhead Aquatics, the AquaManta EFX 400 External Filter, and it is really easy to setup and very silent. They have smaller ones as well. Check that out, because at £99 it was indeed a bargain.. http://www.fishkeeper.co.uk/Prodshowroo ...

    Koralia Installed - Video Attached

With me it worked the opposite.. I have the difuser left to the koralia, and it sucks the bubbles and throws them down, as the Koralia is pointing to the far bottom corner of the tank. :) I had the Koralia on the opposite of the diffuser and there seemed to be dead spots on my tank, some...

Actually I am also looking for new filter, I still have the eheim classic 2013, it works ok, but I am looking for something with more filtration capacity. I always used eheim, didn't looked at the other filter makes before, prejudice most probably. Will check JBL and Tetratec on ebay and...

    Filter options

Hi, the question is do you need more filtration or do you need more water movement? If more movement, then a Koralia will sort you out, if filtration why not buy another eheim? Something like the Eheim Ecco Pro 130 would be enough. Use a quality spray bar such as the EHEIM INSTALLATION SETS...
