Yes some concrete vases, just an Etsy purchase but thought they would be a good solution to hold and display. I added a some foam padding to the bottoms inside to set the height for long and shorter tools which also acts as a soft cushion for the scissor tips 🙌🏻
Always happy to say hi...
Hi, there isn’t, but there easily could be, I have considered it as it would open up my stocking options and allow ottos which would help with film on the wood.
While I’m here here’s some images and a little transcript from last night….

Hi, I haven’t manually misted the majority of plants, however the peripheral plants such as the Hoya on the right uppermost branch I need to mist occasionally to moisten the sphagnum as I haven’t got a wick to that area. The main branches with moss and the nepanthes I have dooa terra tape to...
Hi, there is a metal bracket you purchase seperately that sits on the aquarium…
Then you hang the mizukusa wall on top of this bracket in slots designed to mount it on either this bracket or the glass of the neo glass terra 36
Hi Sid,
I initially removed all soil from the plant roots and...
Hello 👋🏻
I use a smart power strip that has timer functionality 🙌🏻
great to know it reminds you of nature 😃
The tool box was primarily for my old 30cm cube aquascape, however it now houses a limited set of tweezers and scissors for nipping out the occasional leaf or overgrown plant and pulling...
Thank you again.
It has only been sited for a week so it’s difficult to tell exactly how it is developing, I’ll know better how the pitchers are going on a few more weeks I guess. I don’t know how humid it is up there, but it is right in line with the mist so hopefully reasonably high. I may...
Thank you so much for the information. I’m a novice keeper so hearing from someone with experience is reassuring. The new leaves are developing pitchers so I will monitor progress.
I won’t mind the plant becoming bigger, I nearly purchased a larger one but once I saw the oversized vanda orchid I...
Thanks.
Mainly Christmas moss, but Java moss, spiky moss and a tiny bit of weeping too.
I keep the moss at the top wet with dooa terra tape laid over the branches and dipped into the water weir at the top of the mizukusa wall so it wicks along the branch. The mist maker helps also. I have...
Hi,
just about done now with more plants added to the exposed branches. A begonia amphioxus and some peperomia piccolo banda were added to the foremost left and right branches.
Perhaps only a few creeping Marcgravia and Solanum sp. here and there will finalise things.
Time to see what happens...
Little update.
I have started planting this with moss from @Horizon Aquatics and I visited a garden centre in York called Deans which has a great selection of terrarium suitable and unusual plants. A little out of season, the range was still good with some nice plants which will only get better...
Thanks, hopefully when I plant it it will grow in as beautifully as yours.
Hi, its wio Neptune wood, it wasn’t particularly expensive, I can’t remember how much as I purchased it a long time ago.
I know exactly how you feel. I think I will fill the tank and run without planting to see how the moisture creeps on the wood naturally and then add wicking tape where I would like extra.
I also think I will run the mist flow unit permanently to begin, and see how things go.
Ha, thanks...
Sounds great, I know what you mean about the plant choices….i haven’t really sat and thought fully about it yet and am in unknown territory really as I have no soil and a new system to work with so it will be a learning experience. I have been concentrating on getting the hardscape finalised and...
Thought I’d share my latest project 😁
I have just started building a mizukusa wall system. This will be another new facet of the hobby for me and one I’m looking forward too.
I’ve had a wish list system in storage for a while now and felt with a creative itch to scratch, but indecision on which...
Hi,
The dooa 20x20x35 got another lease of life a long time ago in simpler form.
A bun moss creation over a terrarium mix soil to hold the moisture, with a few small frodo stones, a piece of manzanita wood and some oak leaves and gravel detail. This is super low maintenance, watering every...
I think it’s for those that don’t utilise the dooa drain. It’s another way of draining the excess water build up from the substrate area if you need to maintain it a little drier for certain plants.
Ha, this is the ultimate lazy man’s system, I literally do hardly anything to it now. Trimmed very very infrequently, top up the water reservoir every couple of weeks and spray dooa mist when I remember. Don’t even clean the internal glass, it’s pretty self sufficient.
Little update pics, over a year on and the simplest system to care for, a constant and stable environment offering a calming feature in the kitchen diner….i enjoy it every day 🙂💚
Hi, apologies for the late response to your questions. You may no longer need the information but basically I run the pump 24/7, the mist generator was on for 10mins every hour in the early stages as the plant mass was low and it tended to dry out a little more. As time passed and water was...
Thanks mate.
Things have settled in the paluda now, with very little additional misting required. I just use the dooa wabi mist occasionally now for a little nutrient boost and the plants are doing great.
I have plenty of new leaves, and even bare bolbitis difformis rhizomes are springing into...
I have the fan and mist flow on a timer together so when the mist is on the fan is too. I found this best at distribution. I’m still dialling it all in tbh, I need to turn the duration down a little now.
Thank you.
I have some miniature orchids on the stone already 😃
Hello.
Whilst aquascaping, I’ve been dipping my toes into terrariums and such like and the opportunity arose to give one of these little suckers a go.
It is an all new way of doing things for me, and I knew it would take a little trial and error along the way…..
Dooa Paluda 30:
The system works...
Whilst this tall dooa terrarium came down some time ago, I never lost the enthusiasm for their simplicity.
After having my old 60cm tank temporarily housed on the kitchen worktop when we decorated the front room, I knew longer term I wanted something green on there to watch while cooking.
I...
Dooa do a brown wicking tape, I think this would be important as the upper areas would dry out. They may still dry out as I don’t have experience of the wicking tape and how effective it is over distance.
Dooa also do a really cool light unit: DOOA Magnet Light G
Another option would be to have...
Hi Dean,
To be honest it gets a misting with the dooa spray every other day.
It is always misted with condensation which means you can’t see into it clearly until I’ve squeegeed the front pane :D If I left the top open more the buce and riccardia would dry out, however I’m pretty sure everything...
The plants grew a lot and it was time to trim. Love the fact that these little terrariums can be picked up and moved so easily, makes things really easy to manage.
I didn’t really know how to tackle it so decided to just top most of the overgrown rotala bonsai and pogostemon erectus. I was...
Thanks Dean, they are much easier than an aquarium to maintain so it’s a good selling point, maximum impact with minimum effort. I do nothing except trim periodically. The biggest maintenance is squeegeeing the sides down so I can see in
Springtails were just from ebay and I now only mist...
Hi,
This little terrarium is ticking along nicely.
It’s constantly misty, but if I open the top significantly the buce dries out a little so that is probably the limiting factor to clearing it up. The pogostemon erectus could probably do with it a little drier as it hasn’t opened its fronds...
Hi,
I added some springtails :) I had some minor mould issues and one completely melted portion of ranunculus which I removed.
The tank is doing ok, some new runners from the ranunculus and plenty of flowers from the eriocaulon. I need to trim the larger ranunculus leaves as they are out scaling...
Thanks Dean, yeah they are great little ventures and very simple to set up. I say simple, but I guess time will tell with this 😬 For the first couple of weeks I simply sprayed with a tap water mist daily, I now have the dooa wabi mist too which has fungicides and some nutrient content I...
Just a little update, nothing much has happened however I can see things are starting to grow. The condensation is not as prolific and I’m enjoying the simplicity but aesthetic of the little dooa terrarium :)
Cheerio,
Planted this up tonight, too many varieties of plants I guess but will see what works and what doesn’t. All a bit of ‘suck it and see’ from here on in.......
Plant list:
•bucephelandra micrantha’needle leaf’
•ranunculus inundatus
•eleocharis acicularis mini
•pogostemon erectus
•rotala bonsai...
Cheers Jay. I must have agreed with you about it looking bigger when I bought the plants
Yep they would, I was in a dilemma as I really like the idea of a mossy fern style, however I’ve opted for a fresher look with some brighter greens. Next time I’m going to do a wood moss and mini fern...
Hi,
I’ve been interested in setting up some sort of terrarium style tank for a while. I had in mind a taller style to fit within a piece of existing furniture in our living room. With this criteria I found the dooa neo glass air 20x20x35cm, perfect for the space :)
I’ve been umming and ahhhing...
