Hi guys, Is it possible to somehow add a controller on to the ADA Aquasky? I'm thinking for the ability to have the gradual increase and then decrease before lights out....

I can only comment on the ADA 601 which I am using on my signature 60x45x30, it is a brilliant light and seems to be getting fantastic results of growth so far.

I figured on those two as I see them most often when fishing myself for Barbel, no budget as such just looking for something suitable.

Wow now that is some difference in red with and without the 4-5k. I think the tank looks much better overall with the mix of 4-5k and 6500k I am off work and bored as hell so thought this would help pass the time pmsl

Right lol Since the last sort of debate on what kelvin colour is best I have seen nothing but people saying they are using 6500k, this goes from people new to planted tanks and more experienced guys basically everyone. What I want to know is why do people choose 6500k? Why not 4000k or 8000k...

I have just bought one of these 4x24w T5, it should be here tomorrow. Maybe a bit much light for you though and as you say the lightwave is ugly this is worse but can be worked into a hood or whatever quite easily. You could even just take the ballasts etc out and make x2 two tube units :)

Have a look on lampspecs, that is where the majority that buy bulbs online get them from.

If you guys read what I said properly you would of seen I said 6500k IS BEST for growing plants, not that it is the only light they will grow under. 6500k has been proven over years to have the best results as it is the closest thing to the full spectrum of natural sunlight for both plants and...

Plants will grow under 2000k - 10,000k but 6500k is the best as it is the closest to natural sunlight. People can live on just beans and water but it does not mean they do best on them.

Oh dear, you still hung over from new year mate lol So you recken a blue 420nm ( actinic ) will grow plants just as well as a 6500k?

You are way off with your light spectrum/kelvin for growth, what you have listed above is the most common marine combo for aesthetics. You need to be using 6500k for optimum growth and forget the blue. Just because a light is bright and looks white does not mean it is good for what you are...

The only problem with the halogen is the heat, those things get burning hot!! actually burnt my fingers on them when changing bulbs in the house before I realised how hot they got and how fast. The 7w led defo looks the best to me.

Looks like the main live and neutral are on the left with a live circuit feeding from the left to right. Get yourself a circuit tester from b&q only £3 and check that each holder is live when plugged in. Which ever bit the circuit wire goes to on the left ( top or bottom )will be where it goes...

Ok, so this is my set up; light: x4 54w T5HO 6500k approx 8" above the surface of the water and approx 33" above the substrate ( fairly good reflectors ) tank: 120x60x76 what would you say would be the optimum amount of time to have the lights on? Currently on 12hrs but would 6-8 be better/ok...

I do not have a clue about putting a T8 in a T5 unit sorry lol but from a quick look at the Jewel bulbs they are 895mm in 45w and fooking expensive lol I used these, just wired them up with some twin and earth added a plug and job done :) not sure if they have them in 3ft though...

That is a T8 then not T5 I think, 25mm bulb where a T5 is 15mm.

I do not know for certain but I do not see why not if you can get a NO in the same size and wattage as some HO bulb watts are specific sizes to HO. The actual end pin fittings are the same as far as I am aware.

T5 HO are roughly double the equivalent wattage output to normal T5 NO bulbs from what I have read, so you will in effect have 2 bulbs power in one with a HO. I have x4 54w T5HO on my tank but that is because it is 2.5ft deep lol Think you would be fine with normal T5NO bulbs I recken but I am...
