Fish swimming eradic with disturbed substrate (EI)

Ok, one step further.. today i measured my PO4/NO3 levels, just to rule that out (since i had BGA and i got that in the past by having excessive nitrates). Turns out; PO4: 1, NO3: >100mg/l Ok so that explains why my shrimp are dying and why i have BGA. I think.. So i did another WC today and...

Fish swimming eradic with disturbed substrate (EI)

@Edvet they immediately recovered when the tank was full of fresh water. It ONLY happened when uprooting plants. However Nitrite should not be possible in a cycled tank, right? Is Nitrite also causing BGA?

Fish swimming eradic with disturbed substrate (EI)

lately I have lost a lot of amano shrimps. After talking to Chris Lukhaup (who i know personally) on a fair last weekend he told me that the Amano shrimps could suffer from a bacteria, especially since other fish didn't seem to be affected. So yesterday i decided to uproot some plants while...

EI results in BGA; is my macro solution correct?

yes, Blue Green Algae, not black brush algae :p i don't have BBA anymore since i fixed my CO2 issues :) Flow cannot be the issue here; the spraybar is across the entire tank length; pointing towards the front glass, holes are drilled based on the output of the filter and the Eichinodorus...

EI results in BGA; is my macro solution correct?

    My container is currently 1000.0mL; i add into 1 mix: - 57g KNO3 - 7g KH2PO4 - 83g K2SO4 - 169g MgSO And i dose 240.0 mL /week (spread across 3 dosages of 80mL) into a 400.0L tank. This gives: - NO3: 21ppm/week - PO4: 2.9ppm/wek - K: 22.3ppm/week - Mg: 10ppm/week If i enter these values at...

A few qs about GH BOOSTER

Ok, got it. So i was looking at this page; and given the information in that thread they say; Assuming the above percentages are correct; 3.3g CaSO4 results in 6.666 mg/l Mg 3.3g MgSO3 results in 9.702 mg/l Ca So when i calculate the given grams with the formula above; [4.1 x (6.666 Mg ppm) +...

A few qs about GH BOOSTER

Well based on my e-mail conversations with Marcel Goliaš (who has an excellent Nature Aquarium website on all things related to water, nutrients and chemistry) i've come up with a little tool. I've created an Excel sheet in which i can enter my target KH and GH and it will calculate the amount...

A few qs about GH BOOSTER

Sorry to bump up an old thread; but i am using Duradrakon to enrich my R/O water. I'm aiming for about a KH of 3.5 and GH of 5-6. Problem is that Duradrakon on its own adds both KH and GH to the water. So upping the KH to 3.5KH equals adding only 4.5GH. For this i need to add 12.6 grams of...
