    Eheim Pro 3 600 2075 - Noises

I've just looked at the parts breakdown for the Pro 3 600, and it looks like the float valve is virtually identical to the design of the flow rate indicator, but in reverse as a kind of primitive check valve to stop backflow down the outlet pipe. In another thread...

    Eheim Pro 3 600 2075 - Noises

Re: Eheim Pro 3 600 - Swishing Noises If the Pro 3 600 has a flow meter float on the outlet side as the 2080 does and the Pro II's did, it's possible the "ticking" you're hearing is simply the float vibrating in its casing because of the increase in flow you've reported.

    eheim nightmare

The part about the filter seeming to have an air leak still makes me think it was a poor seal or a crack somewhere in the head unit. Impossible to know for sure though, and as long as swapping the head unit fixed the problem it doesn't matter too much. I'm glad you got it sorted. :)

    eheim nightmare

Danny, if the filter is now primed and running but is sucking in air, there must be a leak. The only other thing I can think of is that you still didn't get all the air out, but trapped air will usually resolve itself quite quickly. If it's as simple as the priming mechanism being temperamental...

Which is the quietest 1200: JBL, AO, TT or AM?

Unfortunately that did sound a little too good to be true. The Pro II (2026 and 2028) was replaced by the Pro III a while ago now, and any Pro II's are just the remaining stock. Most retailers have put the price UP because rather than trying to clear the old stock, many people still want a Pro...

Which is the quietest 1200: JBL, AO, TT or AM?

The problem with asking which filter is the quietest is that it's a very subjective question. Some people have better hearing or hear different frequencies, so what's "silent" to one person is unbearable to another. I don't know where the bedroom is in relation to the living room, but I can't...

Best Inlet / Outlet for external filter.

I used to love the Eheim Installation kits, but after a year or so of use I found the smoked grey ABS would turn cloudy white. It didn't matter so much if all the parts were purchased and installed at the same time, but when I needed to change things around and buy new extensions or fittings...

eheim 2217 filter media cleaning question

I'm all for the instructions on a filter warning not to rinse media under the tap, or a magazine like PFK warning not to do it. They have to play it safe for novice and experienced readers alike. But if you have an Eheim Classic filled as recommended by Eheim, you're not going to crash the...

eheim 2217 filter media cleaning question

I use the recommended media setup and put the Substrat in a mesh bag. Cleaning couldn't be easier. The fine white pad is replaced every time, the bag of Substrat is lifted out and rinsed in a bucket of tankwater to retain the bacteria, the blue foam pad is lifted out and rinsed well under a...

    Which External Filter

I use Zoobest filter bags bought from AquaristikShop, but Eheim, AquaMedic and lots of other companies make them. I've found the 10x50cm coarse green bag is perfect for the 2217 and doesn't seem to impede flow at all. The starter bulb is exactly as you said, it just means you don't get a mouth...

    Which External Filter

I definitely agree that 2217's are the way to go. I've used Eheim Pro and Pro II filters for about ten years and recently needed two more. I don't like the look of the Pro III filters so I opted for Classic's, and I much prefer them. The simplicity of the design wins out over the supposedly...

    JBL Spray Bar

Yeah, the old style JBL filters came with inlet and outlet pipes a lot like Eheim's green pipes, only in nicer smoked black plastic. The spraybars in the first AE link are like that. The newer JBL's come with the modular InSet and Outset kits, 12/16mm on the e700 and e900, 16/22mm on the e1500...

    fx5 or 2078

What kind of tank and cabinet do you have? Unless I've missed it, I realise none of us have asked that question. Some of the filters are very big and might not physically fit if your cabinet is small. Apart from the Tetratec EX2400, which has a reputation for being very noisy, the big brand...

    fx5 or 2078

I've never used the 2078 or the other electronic filters so all I can give you is an opinion based on what I look for in a filter myself. Like some of the posts earlier in the thread, I'm not a fan of the electronics simply because they serve no purpose and there's no way they can be bulletproof...

    fx5 or 2078

I use two 2028's and two 2217's on my 450 litre, but I understand that's not what you're looking for. If you want one big filter (or at the most two) with big flow, I'd go for the 2080 or 2260.

    Hydor Koralia Evolution (ETA?)

The list would be shorter if you wanted to know what's the same, Rob. Almost everything has changed. Outwardly they look similar, but the new versions are a lot smaller in size. They pump more water and use less electricity, the magnet mount has vibration damping to reduce resonation, and the...

    fx5 or 2078

This is of no real help to you, alzak, but I wouldn't personally go for the 2078 or FX5. The 2078 for all the reasons already mentioned: just because you can do something, and just because it will likely work just fine, it doesn't mean you should or that you need to. We pay a lot more money for...

    Better Flow Pattern?

My tank's 5x2x2, holding 450 litres after displacement from gravel/wood/rocks etc. Because of a bad back I use four smaller filters (two Eheim 2028's and two 2217's) instead of bigger filters like the 2080 or 2260; I'd never be able to move them. That gives me 4000lph rated flow/2800lph real...
