    KISS large sump filter design

A twin standpipe is generally quieter than a durso

    Juwel rio 180 filteration

If you are able to keep up the daily 20% changes on the 180l then you should be ok with the discus I would go with the EX1200 personally, but you can't go wrong with an Eheim either, I'm not a big of the Fluval externals myself however

    Juwel rio 180 filteration

Unless you're going for a breeding pair of discus I would say a 180l is a little on the small side for discus. 5 in a 50/55gal is the absolute minimum I would say. If the discus are the only fish and you do very large and/or very frequent water changes you may just get away with it however. In...

Best filter to fit into Juwel rio 180 cabinet

I have an Eheim 2026 in the cabinet on my Rio 180 (same style as the one you have ie 2 cupboards and a shelfy bit in he middle) and it just fits in through the door. I much prefer the old style Rio 180 cabinet tho with just 2 cupboards which were bigger and didnt have the stupid shelfy bit in...

Tunza nanostreams are also very good, albeit slightly more expensive than the koralia

    Reverse Osmosis filter Comparison?

I've never heard a bad word about RO Man, they generally come incredibly highly praised

    Positioning of Koralia 1?

I would also say A. With B, everything seems essentially aimed at the front left corner, whereas A seems to give more even coverage IMO Absolutely, I always have mine at least an inch or so below the surface, wont harm anything in the slightest, and as you said, the decrease surface agitation...

    Internal vs External

Well obviously the main difference is that the external goes outside the tank (usually situated beneath the tank in the cabinet). It will have 2 pipes in the tank, 1 sucks the water out of the tank and down into the filter, the other returns the water to the tank from the filter. The main...

    Hydor prime series

I've not heard of these externals before, but the heaters and powerheads hydor make are very good, so hopefully the filters are equally as good!

    Pearling with High Turnover?

That sounds like a reasonable assumption to me. I don't know for definate either way tho

    Tetratec EX 1200 filter

Oopsie! I have an Eheim Pro II 2026 in my Rio 180 and it just about fits through the door

    Thermo Filter

I'm pretty sure Eheim are the only brand with a built in heater, however as dave said, you can easily attach one of the Hydor ETH external heaters onto the outflow pipe of pretty much any external filter, depending on pipe diameter, I've just ordered one myself to go on the outflow of my pro II 2026

AN OLD CHESTNUT I'M SURE - FILTERS!

that sounds like a pretty good rating to go for if you ask me if it was my money I'd get the tetratec EX1200, or if you're feeling flush the eheim 2026 or even 2028 JC
