Critique my aquascape Nature Style 60x40cm

Hi Looks good. Make sure you plug sponges, filter wool or smaller graded gravels in the gaps between the stones near your sand area or aquasoil will spill and you will be trying to separate it forever from the sand and mostly fail at the end 😉 Regards Konstantin

Advice on moving aqua soil in new scape

Hi If you are that set of rearranging it. You can syphon the aquasoil out with a hose, drain the water out of it(with minimal stirring) and then scoop it and place it wherever you need it while water level is low. Then fill up and you are done. You may have to follow with few large water changes...

Hi Nice start. You want to pull that java fern out of substrate and attach it to the wood.It likes good flow through the roots and will rot when planted in substrate. Regards Konstantin

Hi Tbh it looks like your left and right sides are two completely different tanks.Nothing wrong with having different texture stones if you like the look but I will recommend to add some more wood to the left side to try to blend both sides together. Regards Konstantin

    Hardscape feedback

Hi I went for Option 3.It was planted a week and a half ago and dealing with massive plant melt atm. I may have overshot with the plant choice(Monte carlo and Eleocharis mini both tissue culture)for low tech tank or its just new Tropica soil causing the melt or combination of both. Will try to...

    First Attempt

Hi You did well for your first attempt. There are few things that need tweaking imo. Most important is to adjust your lighting photoperiod as mentioned above. On water change day push the cryptocoryne a bit deeper in the substrate so the roots are not exposed ,even if you push them too deep...

    First Aquascape!

Hi U dont really need temp that high.CO2 and O2 dissolve better in lower temp and more difficult in higher.I keep my tanks at 22-24°C And had no issues with fish being cold. It ia really up to U how often and what volume your waterchanges will be. The more and the bigger the better. The idea...

    First Aquascape!

Hi and welcome @ukaps. Its a good start U have there. It will be enough to start with 6h of light Fertilisers can be started straight away.Just make sure U get complete fertiliser (Macro plus micro elements)TCN complete or The Aquascaper complete will do the job. Waterchanges as much as U...

    Rocks affects on water.

Hi What fish U plan on keeping (breeding) in the tank so U are affraid of PH swinging a little. Many on here have CO2 injection systems and have PH swings of 1 point or more on daily basis. And their fish doesn't really care and are triving. Dragon stone is a inert one as is basically clay...

Hi Dont give up on the Riccardia yet. It grows very well in my low tech shrimp tank with moderate to low light(depending on floaters) and lately without any fert addition. It may surprise U.May be try to get some established from forum member and add it after the initial imbalance settles...

    Sub Substrate

Hi yes I thought about the same stuff. Its just too porous and holds lots of air in it.It has consistency a bit like lava rock so not going to take much water in it I suspect.Darrel I think is( was) using it as filter media Maybe he can chip in if it is going to saturate in water and not float...

    Sub Substrate

Hi Carpman Hope is not fired clay (Hydroleca)as is very porous and light it may start floating. Critique my aquascape First attempt - rock and wood

Hi Love the choice of Maple leaf stone. One of my favourite and often wander why is not used more often. As far as I get your idea you are using the stones to separate the sand and the soil.My advice will be to break some of them up as they are very similar size and do look a bit like a...

    Scape inside the wall

Hi Having in mind how nicely the tank is build in the wall.I will defo go for low maintenance plants as imagine maintenance will be painful.Think about marsilea and hairgrass instead of HC as will require much less trimming. Regards Konsa

    Which rock?

Hi Danielm I have seen some shrimp scapes with Mapleleaf stone. They look great.I am about to start a tank with them soon. Its just like fancy lava rock.Lots of pores to attach moss or anything very easy.Lightweight so will not come as expensive as other heavy rocks. And has tons of character.Its...

Hi foxfish 2 hours after light out is not enough to degas the CO2 build up and get a baseline PH. Algae, Shrimp and Ottos - Oh My!
