    Threadfin Rainbow fish

They are great little fish and pretty shrimp friendly, they may snatch a tiny one if it swims. I had equal amounts of males and females, the males are so busy with each other that they didn’t seem to bother the females, the females choose so the males have to impress but extra females would be...

    Fish identify

They look like they have been heavily photoshopped if not completely an artists creation. This close up is a tell

    ID this hitchhiker?

They can get pregnant at one month old, so Zozo may be right. As she has no colour on her tail she might be an endler Guppy.

    So many copepods!

Thats amazing, I wonder why there are so many. I have had a lot of ostracods in shrimp tanks but never that many copepods. They seem to eat anything I give the shrimp so I expect they do compete with the shrimplets. If you ever get any chance fry they would thrive in that shrimp tank. You could...

    Free Gift in Fish Bag..

They might be Micropoecilia parae if they are not endlers. The male looks too colourful for them but I expect they are being selectively bred and hybridised so may be them. You could check google images.

Molly with potential dropsy? What to do.

The Esha shouldn’t be a problem for the fry. Sorry about your fish, you are doing the best you can,

60l tank is ready...sparkling gourami or something else?

The ones I kept were not shy at all they were always out and about. Your tank will make a great home for them.

    Leaving fish when away

Not ick I’m pretty sure. Ick looks like tiny grains of salt and will be on other fish and anywhere on the fish. Some sort of infection but I don’t know what. Super clean water is always a good idea so extra water changes may help.

    Leaving fish when away

I don’t think it’s Ich so raising the temperature may only stress the fish more.

    Eggs

    Look like Corydoras eggs.

    Austrolebius nigripinnis

Yes they are called coir pellets on Amazon. They work for all the diving spawners. Here are a different species I had years ago they are bigger than your fish, the pellets work quite well, they will scatter some of it. I always had multiple pairs of the same species with enough room and lots of...

    Austrolebius nigripinnis

When I kept them and other substrate spawners I kept them in planted tanks with aquasoil or sand and used coir pellets for them to spawn in. They know not to try spawning in the hard substrate and will use the pellets, the pellets work even for much bigger killifish, it’s easy to take the...

    Which small fish

The boraras won’t trouble grown shrimp but they will eat baby shrimp, they can eat glass worms so a baby shrimp will go down just as easily, as the boraras are so small they can get into all the baby shrimp hiding places. They may eat small planaria and control the population. Genchem No...

Endlers Livebearers - Where to get TRUE ones?

Maybe through the livebearer association you could get some that are as pure as it’s possible to get. Most if not all in the hobby have guppy genes according to this PFK article. http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/c ... p?sid=2733

    Sailfin tetras

They look great and have such interesting behaviour for a tetra, another one to keep some time!

Show Us Your Rare And Odd Fish!

A bit late, but thanks for the comments George. Thanks Darren yeah that’s me. You may like this species its Boraras naevus, they were scientifically described last year. Guess they are still rare enough. They are quite different from other boraras sp in that the males and females are quite...

Show Us Your Rare And Odd Fish!

I got them in Wholesale Tropicals in London a couple of years ago; Kesgrave Tropicals sometimes have them and do mail order. As for the water, don’t think they are fussy, they were in local hard water and now I have them with crystal reds pH6.5 GH GH4 and less than 1 KH at 23C. They need very...

These tiny fish (Danionella dracula) are not so common, I keep them with shrimp as they can’t eat baby shrimp. Danionella-dracula-1 by Peter M4, on Flickr

    Vietnamese minnows

I keep them with tiger shrimp, they are pretty shrimp friendly as much as the microrasboras, maybe even better as they won't root about in moss looking for shrimplets, though if a tiny shrimplet goes for a swim its toast.
