any NH4 in the tank could cause this.. is the AS leeching? is this a totally new filter setup as well? the AS can leech NH4 for a while to start with, but your water changes should reset this. Any time you do a WC you should obviously redose immediately. Id turn the lighting right down...

the output is humongous.. I have it setup so one of the dual outlets flows through a spraybar, and the other is free.. Ive just drilled out the holes in the spraybar to 3mm to cope better and put a few downward facing ones in to keep the water directly under the bar moving, and its evened things...

what sort of DIY co2 system are you using Egmel? You may encounter issues when trying to use a diffuser disk with a non pressurised system. Diffusers take a serious amount of pressure to push the gas through, normally more than a DIY system will be producing. You run the risk of splitting...

really love the wood! makes a lovely focal point that leads the eye along the scape :) get looots more plants though.. youll struggle keeping it together with such a low biomass, you then need to decide to do full co2, or no co2, and stick to it though. learn to be very good with your DIY co2...

be very careful buying off the shelf sources of ammonia, more often then not they add surficants to the mixture. The easy way to tell (unfortunately you have to buy it first) is to open the bottle, shake it.. if there are bubbles on the surface, then its got soap in it, which is bad.

:) for cycling, I fishlessly cycle using a pure NH4 source. Zero to full stock in no time.

Ive found theyre the only thing I can rely on :) especially good old Poly. Might keep it in the tank just cos of that, out of all the plants ive tried, its the one that always talks the loudest to me, the hard bit is learning to keep your eyes open.

Id like some of the narrow java as well, i have a broad leaf one in there, which has just been heavily cut back to get rid of algae damage. itll be fun to watch it all grow in, assuming it all grows!
