My El Natural has 2x24w HO at 2.5ft from the substrate if that helps.

I wish all LEDS were cheaper! In fact, I wish more strip lights were made with LEDS so you don't need to purchase two or three to cover all but the smallest tank.

I don't mind the look of either light, both can look good depending on the type of aquarium used. I'd love to get hold of some good LEDS like these but the price is too restrictive for me.

I like the look of the first one, I was considering that for a 60cm at one stage. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/light ... 12-pc.html I try and use this chart for working out approximate lighting levels. Depending on depth and how far you raise it you can switch between low and medium levels.

What about some twin T8s? All Pond Solutions have some nice designs at really good prices. Not as high light as T5s, I was considering using them as find high light too much bother.

I was too excited after bringing my tank home :D Yes I was considering that. Yeah an internal 200lph, I have another few if I need but as I was going for shrimp I wouldn't want it too powerful?

I don't want to use co2. I just don't know if the light is too bright for a simple low light, low tech.

Anybody? I still have my co2 system, but would rather not use it.

Hey all, Took a trip to Maidenhead Aquatics in Iver today and ended up coming home with a new tank. Ooops. It's a super fish Aqua 30. 24 litres with an 11w compact light. I'd like to go for a low tech shrimp set up but I'm not sure what sort of light level this gives me? it's 40cm tall.

Or have your photoperiod finish earlier in the day.
