LED's do great job but you need right amount of them. Ideal are CREE LED with 90 beam angle or 60 beam angle. Not saying what LED's you had so hard to tell whether it was good or not. 36W T5 PL-L over 40cm cube should be sufficient.

You do not need XM-L if you are not going to drive them higher than 700mA they are up to 3000mA where they deliver most. For that PSU you will be fine with cheaper XP-G LED

Wolfenrook I did not add any 5 degree that is XPG specification by default unless you can consider basic arcadia cover as lens. I can not do you a favor as I do not have Arcadia so can't give proper PAR by measuring them but I made few custom LED lights with XPG LED and own TMC Grobeam with XPE...

I've seen that one before but I haven't seen reasonable priced daylight PAR lamps E27 for sale in the UK. Clamp and bulb can get you to 80-100 GBP range so DIY is far cheaper. Sad TMC won't make it for release...

TMC has 120 degree or 110 spread he is fine with one stripe. To make plants red it is about nitrogen deficiency as I've been reading lately, since I feed tpn 3x a week I do not have red plants anymore. When I was feeding only easy profito which has no nitrogen I could get them red.

They are most likely right. I was blowing 2x 12W TMC stripes to 78L tank and got issues... so that equals to 200W MH. Now I run first at 50% and second and 40% and placed them higher than before.

What is the light spread? 45, 90, 120 degree or other angle? You would need 120 degree spread if you want to fit them to that small edge hood. Go for max 4 probably only 3 as edge is shallow.

Yes they do work nicely. Not sure what else you want to know. Rotala had 30cm growth over over 2 weeks with Co2 supplement although did not turn out red as with T5 for some reason.

They are claiming LED's have better spectrum spread than halides or T5 and enhancing plant their growth. I ordered yesterday some I cracked my wallet. For 150cm you may be fine with just 3 tiles or get stripes around 6. Anyway start with less you can add more later :)

72W, I think that would be too much light for your tank. I have same size tank with DIY 1x 36W on dimmable ballast and I have to tune down intensity. But my bulb is 3cm from surface. I would go for some 24W close to surface or 36W 10cm from surface as you see on that picture above.
