Thanks for the responses.
I like the look of the Twinstar, but struggle to justify it over the Chihiros A-series. I also like the fact i can dim the Chihiros which as i haven't had much luck with planted tanks i like the idea of the dimmer.
Dan - The Oase 250 it is, i want to use lily pipes...
Cheers Dan,
Really similar to what i am wanting to do. I have a Besta Stand already but was thinking of using a Fluval Roma 90 or 125 more for aesthetic reasons. Have you reinforced your Besta in anyway?
I was looking at the Oase Biomaster Thermo 250 as well! Do you find you need to adjust the...
Hi Dan,
A lovely looking tank! Why did you go for the 600E?? Also what other kit are you using on the tank? I need a new filter as well!!
Thanks Again

Hi All,
just getting the kit together for a new High Tech planted tank. I have got the ADA 60P already but unsure about which light to go for.
Has anyone got any recommendations based upon experience? I'm wanting to grow HC!
Thanks in advance
Ross
The high pitched whine was on the 1500 tiles when they were not at 100% I had first had experience of this but also first had experience of TMC's first class service when I escalated it to them.

Hi Lee,
Don't be sucked in thinking you don't have enough light. I think you would be surprised how much light most plants need. I have a TMC 1500 tile that i run at 20% and have managed to get a carpet of HC growing. I suggest reading some of the threads in the lighting section and looking at...
Hi Alan,
Have you thought about using a fire extinguisher for CO2 rather than the JBL Bottles? I have a 2kg extinguisher that i brought from new for £29ish delivered and i pay £12 every 2 months to get it refilled!!! I do have two to ensure i don't run out whilst the other is getting refilled...
Hi Julian,
You are right however the 1500 Ultima has two "banks" of LEDs which require a channel each so the 2 way controller can only run one 1500 tile.
Cheers

Hello,
I have exactly the same tank and i use a TMC 1500 Ultima but you will need a controller this will allow you to dim the unit. Mine runs at 20%. This will also allow you to tam it up and down. One tile is perfect for this tank!! If you get the 1500 Ultima tile be warned that it can emit a...
Hi James, I would review some of he threads about lighting. Generally the issue tends to be too much light. Will you be adding CO2?? What plants do you want to grow. Even carpeting plants like HC will grow in low light conditions as long as other factors such as CO2 are correct.

My thinking was that the light is ok, as what EnderUK says, apart from the most demanding plants. So rather than spending money on a new light just adjust the hood to get the filter pipes through.
I would imagine it will be the same for all the 1500's as it is to do with an electrical thingy (sorry not electrical at all!) on the tile that does something with the dimming! I sent mine back and they fixed it for free, however the newer lights have this fixed, but it is luck as to whether you...
I've had glass wear before and i always break it!
Spraybars give the best distribution, i use the powerhead to give the carpeting plants a bit more flow!
C02 has been my biggest issue and it is for most people. It didn't help with me blasting the plants with far too much light. I would stick...
No Problem!
I use an inline hydor 300w heater with an up inline atomizer on the outlet of my filter. I use a JBL e1501 with a spray at across the entire width of the tank. I also use a hydor Pico Evo-mag 1200 just below the spray bar pointing towards the front of the tank. I think you will just...
Sorry forgot to add the 1500 is perfect for a 60x45x45 tank. I had my tile on a 75x45x45 tank and that was pushing it!!! The corners were getting light, but only just!!

Hi Wisey,
I have an almost identical setup...it might have been mine that you are referring to. The 1500 Ultimate Tile is extremely bright. I have a controller running it at 5%!!!!
In my tank I had to add an additional power head to aid with the flow and I think you will need to do the same...
I would imagine you would need a controller on the TMC growbeams as well. I think you would also be looking at three tiles for a 150cm wide tank.
I think the biggest issue on a high tech tank will be C02 diffusion and circulation!

I have a 1500 above a TMC signature 60x45x30 and it perfect in my opinion. Will need a controller. I run mine at 20%!

I have one 1500 TMC tile over mine and the spread just about reaches the corners. I have mine running at 35% as I have it attached using MountaRays.
A controller is a must in my opinion!!!

I think a lot of people including George Farmer and Ian Holditch are using TMC tiles with a controller. This is what I have done on my Ada 75p and it seems perfect for the job!

Hi all,
I have an ADA 75p and in October i brought a Arcadia 150w metal halide with moonlight leds. I'm nervous that this is too much light and i'm just going to cause myself problems. So i was thnking of changing it for something else. This is going to be a high tech tank so can anybody...
Hi all,
Looking at lighting for my new ADA 75P really like the look of the ADA Solar I and the Giesemann Nova II. Anyone used either of them? Any opinions on them?
Thanks
Ross
