    Hydor ETH on Filter Inlet?

I was told by hydor that there's a regulator on the heater that'll slow down the water to heat it. A similar way to which an electric power shower works. Therefore you don't want to have the heater on the inlet where muck can get stuck in it and allow the hester to overheat. The best place is...

    zeolite and purigen

I got a small already bagged amount (not sure but something like 100ml) of Purigen for my nano. I was suffering from greenish tinge to the water, so added the purigen as used it previous for a larger tank. It's best placed as the final thing that the water hits on the way out of the filter, like...

    DIY Hose Reducer

I've been using a DIY hose reducer for a while, after given advice on this forum. So I thought I'd do a write up on it... I needed to reduce the filter hose from my filter which had an internal tube fitting of 16mm to the glassware set of 13mm on my nano. To get around this, I used the...

Auto Dosing EI with a dosing pump (diagram and calculations)

I would of tried the check valve first and leave everything in the cupboard hidden away. What I found was that the pump worked, but when switched off the water flowed back into the bottle a bit. Therefore, it meant that the minute of being on, was spent pumping the water back up a bit.

Auto Dosing EI with a dosing pump (diagram and calculations)

I think the problem I had was that the pump was too low down compared to the tank. In addition, I didn't have a non-return valve between the pump and the output into the tank. If I were to try this again, I would have the pump at the same height as the water level and have the non-return valve...

I would have to drill the pvc end caps then for the hose to fit in. Design 2 looks easier although #1 might be a better option for my setup.

    Nano Aquariums & Heating - What's Best?

So winter is on it's way, and I'll have to look at heating my 14 litre nano once again. During the early months, I used an in-tank heater but I want to keep as much out of the tank as possible. I could get the smallest (200w!) Hydor in-line heater but am worried that the 200w might be a bit too...

    Nano Heater?

In my nano, it got very cold during the winter months so I'll be using one again. In addition, even without having a heater during the summer months can mean the temp flucuates a lot - not good for CRS. Dennerle do a nano heater but it's not really "nano" as we know it. There's some flat...

I have an eheim flexible cleaning brush from AE that you push through to clean it. It's really long so it'll do most setups I would of thought.

I recently bought Do!Aqua tweesers small from AE but they don't seem to have them anymore - does that help?!?!? They are the mutt's nutts. EDIT: I also have the long straight JBL tweesers, they're good for my larger tank when planting crypts etc but a pain for smaller plants.

Any update on this guys as my nano glassware set is getting a bit brown! Whats the best method?
  21. Superman

Does this all sound reasonable? Any equipment imbalances?

Looks good to me, I would consider using dry ferts from the off as it'll take a lot of TPN+ from the start and then it could cause you problems when you tailor your dry ferts moving from TPN+. You didn't mention any substrate?

    Heating Options

I'm thinking that I'll need to heat my nano as my house is usually rather on the cool side. There is the option of the - hydor inline heater (not really much room in the setup for this) - in tank heater (unslightly) It is there an option of fitting a heater inside a filter? If so how?

I'm on the hunt for a cheap dosing pump. They're not too bad at about £50 brand new. I thought about the airline in, I might try the "TPN+" type bottles. Leave the smaller chamber top opened so that when you suck out from the bottle, the air should be pulled in from the other chamber.

DIY Project DIY Water Changer, No more buckets!!

Re: My Water Changer Top tip: When going to pump the water out, you'll need to fill the hose first. So attach it to the tap and push water through the pump until all the bubbles are pushed through. Otherwise, your impeller will only rotate in air!
