I've had a long battle with bad BBA outbreak i left un-attended for some time, im finally beating it by spot dosing, filter maintenance more regular and two SAE's. I'm now keeping it at bay!

I have some of this growing on my wood and it looks great. Only issue is it's also growing on some granuals of gravel aswell.

I have been unsuccessful in removing this from my tank since 5 months. Tried everything and it just keeps coming back for vengeance.

Spot dose the bba with the liquid carbon using a syringe. A blackout will not kill bba.

Get a toothbrush and manually remove as much as you can. Up co2 as much as you can without hurting the livestock.

Hi Tom, i am having consistent issues with BGA. No matter how much i scrub it away and move the substrate about where it stems from it still comes back a week later! When you say 3 day blackout + KNO3 how much of this do i dose? Do i dose it with water mixed or dry? I want to get rid of this...

Hi Chris, thanks for the info, i already dose 5 teaspoons in my 500ml mix so ill up to 6 and see what that does. I'm already at 400 ppm and i live in an area where the water is below 50ppm out of my tap so go figure haha. Cheers

Hi, Been getting BGA in certain spots in my tank now for a few weeks, seems to have started from beneath the substrate and krept along. I scrape when i can off during water changes but comes back pretty fast, read this thread and i already dose KNO3.. shall i up my dose? Cheers

Hi, i used this for around 6-7 weeks to remove some thread algae. I cannot say for sure whether it worked because in that time i bought 2 SAE and changed my lighting from Halide to T5. So it could have been a number of factors or all. Thanks

To be honest i am not sure it was the Algexit that started to defeat it.. as i was dosing this for 4 weeks with no signs of dying off. It only happend since buying the new T5 unit from Eeezer. I dont know what light system you run so cant comment. Cheers

Hi mate, i got rid of 90% of my hair algae since swapping light intensity from MH to 2 x 39w T5, i also dosed 12ml of Easylife Algexit each week for 5 weeks. I also remove any effected stem. It is so far under control.

So second dose yesterday, no changes what so ever... seems to be growing at the same rate and to be honest im getting sick of pulling it off plants on a daily basis.

Yes mate picked up Six last night from a guy in hulme there massive! im hoping they will get rid of any other algae i have as well!

For info i put 6 amano in last night, woke up this morning and the fungus was all gone! awsome critters these!

Hi there, yes it is close to a window but the blinds are kept closed all day just opened them for the shot there. But thank you anyway. I suppose i will just have to keep at it, so just to confirm. Easy Carbo overdose daily, i currently do 2ml shall i up this to 5ml (125l tank) TPN+ again 2ml...

I have trimmed leaves as well mate but keeps coming back. Couple of pics are here, doesn't look too bad from the pics but it is bad to the eye.

Been doing that for about 2 weeks now mate and not seeing any change at all :/

Luis, does this include measurements of Easy Carbo? Many have said overdose on Easy Carbo, but doesnt this go against the stable CO2 issue?

Thank you for the decent post mate, i have just done a 60% water change this afty, and removed all BBA infected areas. I have re added my bubble counter (i removed it for some time and just judged the colour of my drop checker) and have set it to around 3BPS. However not sure if its working...

I'm having an absolute nightmare with BBA some extra advice would be appreciated its taking over all my plants and substrate its so annoying. Im now dosing 5ml of easy carbo daily and no change. Drop checker is a lime green colour.

I was right lol, came back to a disaster BBA everywhere. Gave it a good clean and a trim and changed the Co2 levels a bit so lets see how this goes!

Hi CeeJay, I will cut everything down tonight, reduce CO2 and Lighting period. I currently have the lights on for 5 hours a day what should i reducde this too? I am not sure how the CO2 became fluctuated as i am on a solenioid and has been running the same since i set it up 3-4 months ago...

Im having a nightmare with BBA, i put the CO2 up to a higher level as i read this would kill it and it hasnt. I cut all the covered plants up and its now come back stronger than ever, covering my substrate rocks, inlet filter and crypts. Any tips people? Cheers
