    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

3/6 cancels down to 1/2tsp 1/16 - the easiest way i can explain it is this> 1 => 1/2 => 1/4 => 1/8 => 1/16 so you just half the spoonn every time. small numbers, yes, but you can buy measuring spoons: http://www.fluidsensoronline.com/zen/in ... cts_id=230 My dosage is 6tsp per month (but...

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

The guidlein is usually 5ml per 100l everyday. Considering you have a low tech tank you could get away with dosing 3x per week, if deficiencies continue then raise the frequency of the dose.

Riccia and Java moss carpets. Step-by-Step guide

Riccia does better with CO2 injection in submerged conditions, however if you float it you won't have a problem. Leave it floating a couple of weeks so it doubles in size then try tiring some to a rock.

CO2 MEASUREMENT USING A DROP CHECKER

Hi, the reason Ceg has attached to the front is probably to take the pictures, if you look at some aqauriums on here they are attached to the side as to not disrupt the view.

CO2 MEASUREMENT USING A DROP CHECKER

aqua essentials or make your own Add 6g of pure Sodium Bicarbonate to 5l of DeIonised water (DI) to give you a solution at 40dKH. Mix 10ml of this solution with 90ml of 'fresh' DI to give you 1l of 4dKH reference solution. This obviously makes a lot, so you can sell some on (providing it is...

CO2 MEASUREMENT USING A DROP CHECKER

true, but that is what the 4dKH solution is for ;) It is pure water so there isnt any other acidic substances that will affect the result.

haha, i know they were/ are about (im not that dim :P). They used to be used quite a lot years ago, then they died off but seem to be coming back again. Maybe that is just poor observation on my behalf, perhaps non-existent was the wrong word to use, maybe unpopular?.... anyway i just...

    Lighting In the planted Aquarium

Thanks for your comments Blue Dave, when i wrote this article mecury vapours were almost non-existent in the planted hobby but now there are lots of new and different approaches, LED's as another exampe. Lighting In the planted Aquarium

hi & welcome :) Glass doesnt filter UV out, unless it has a coating (like sunglasses) which i doubt aquariums have, It doesnt make much of a difference where you place the lights, remember plants grow towards the strongest light source so having lights on the side will make the plants grow/...

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

hi & welcome :) here is the mixture for a 20gal tank (traces) so just raise the amount you mix like you have done for the others to compensate for the extra 5gallons. You have everything correct. The other powders are there incase any other defficiencies show, but most people's tap water...

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

i fully understand now. I used 500ml as a figure because i have a couple of 500ml bottles thats all. so 23g > 500ml 500/ 12 = 40ml per dose x3 per week gotcha :D Thanks for your help. Aaron
  17. A

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

i understand your reply, until i get to here: all you have done is enlarged the numbers in proportion, (9g > 200ml is equal to 23g > 500ml) so therefore i should still be able to dose 25ml x2 per week (or 16ml x3 per week) to get the same results/ concentration. That is how i got my result...

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

Hi, while i know trace & NPK cannot be mixed together in one bottle, is it ok to dose them both on the same day? Also i have a 240l tank, i have worked it out that if i mix 30g Trace to 500ml of water, i should dose 15ml x 3 a week. Is this correct? Thanks, Aaron

    Lighting In the planted Aquarium

Hi, I use the daylight tube on my tank, it has a huge green & yellow spike so therefore it brings out the plants well in flesh, although for photography purposes you will notice that most of my tank shots look illuminous!! So i am considering buying the beauty which is more equal across green...

    CO2 In the planted Aquarium

i dont go with the BPS etc. For my 60l, it is recomended 1 bubble every 3 seconds, but i inject 3 BPS! Could CO2 level be so high that it kills off the plant? I have read that CO2 above 40pppm can block the enzymes in algae and kill it.

    CO2 In the planted Aquarium

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Plants are made up of 50% carbon (dry weight). Submerged aquarium plants absorb carbon through carbon dioxide (CO2) dissolved in the water. All aquarium plants will benefit greatly from adding CO2 to the water. For those wanting to keep a heavily planted tank, full of lush...
