Can I keep Scarlet Badis, CPDs and Otos together?

I ques most of us wish that ;-) Otocinclus will eat some algae, but only on surfaces like glass and stone. Those are easy to clean, the algae on/between plants are much more annoying but won't be eaten by the fish. In a small tank I don't really see the benefits of Otos.

Can I keep Scarlet Badis, CPDs and Otos together?

I ques bigger is always better, especially for fish that should be kept in numbers.

Can I keep Scarlet Badis, CPDs and Otos together?

my Dario's don't eat frozen food, (I'm also not really trying to get them to eat it) But they are small fish. You don't need loads of live food for them, and it does not have to be very small either. Just regular white worm, blood worm, glass worm, tubifex, dafnia etc is fine.

    Endler Livebearer breeding questions

Clean bloodlines, that can be traced back to a specific location/ wild color form, are the most highly appreciated wen it comes to Endlers. Breeding forms are worth much less especially wen hybridized, so not sure it is worth the effort at all. Selective breeding can only "improve" the...

    Fish choice for my scape

Probably someone who figured he could make some money on cheaper carbon... Your tank looks really nice and healthy! And so do the fish. The Trigonostigma look a bit like T. espei to me.. but hard to see in the video. I'm curious how the Gobiopterus will do, when they turn up...

    Fish choice for my scape

Activated carbon can effect the pH, depending on the type of carbon ( source material and activation process). It is an initial effect, but can be quite extreme and effect over 600 times its own volume. Activated carbon sold for water treatment or aquariums is usually treated to prevent...

    Question regarding Ropefish

they can grow up to 36 " . So they won't fit in there for long. They don't like bright light, and are strong enough to destroy a delicate aqauscape.

Need inspiration for fish options !

I had a dwarf gourami that did exactly the same thing ;) wen it comes to nesting I think you will never have a guarantee they will leave your plants in one piece. But I believe Pearls are less picky about their nesting material then dwarfs. Some people use a piece of fishing line just below...

Need inspiration for fish options !

If you like them as fish, then why sell yourself short on only getting two females? You will miss the social behavior of them in a small group, which is very interesting to watch. You wont get the beautiful coloration of the males, mating behavior etc. If you have your heart set on them, then...

Need inspiration for fish options !

If the tank is big enough they can be kept together, no problem. Pearl gouramis are not necessarily the best fish for a planted aquarium, they prefer very gentle flow and need at least some surface vegetation. Don't get me wrong, they can do great, but it might take some compromising.

Need inspiration for fish options !

perfectly save for plants, despite their appearance they are quite timid and somewhat shy, but they do great in a densely planted aquarium

Need inspiration for fish options !

first idea: a shoal of Iriatherina werneri or/and Pseudomugil gertrudae with a group of Tateurndina ocellicauda + amano shrimp.

They are! Since they are so efficient they are the best cleaning crew. I think your right, once the plants are growing fine and you added the shrimp I think they will become more manageable

    Fish choice for my scape

snails feed on dead plant matter, some algae and leftover fish food. They use up to 90% of what they eat, that is extremely efficient. So wen there is enough food their numbers can expend rapidly. Keeping your tank clean and don't overfeed your fish is the best way to keep them under control...

    Sore patch on Dwarf Gourami

Dwarf gouramis are often infected with an iridovirus, the appearance of sores is a known symptom. There is no treatment. eSHa 2000 is a combination of a gram positive antibiotic, some antiseptics and copper. The last will kill any shrimp and snails. Personally I think you should never ad...

    Pearl gourami and plants

true, gourami's don't eat plants, but will use them to enforce their bubble nests. With the decent water movement (and surface skimming) we have in our planted tanks, it is quite hard for these fish to build their nest. If you provide them whit some floating plants or stem on the surface to...

    Fish choice for my scape

All fish will eat baby cherry shrimp, but in a densely planted tank like yours, some will survive. The pearl gouramis might even try to eat an adult cherry shrimp, some gouramis do, some don't. Usually the shrimp will be faster en much better in hiding themselves then the gouramis will be in...

    Fish choice for my scape

Nice tank! this combination could work. The rasbora and gouramis are a nice combination. Some shrimp wel be eaten but in this kind of tank the population will probably survive, you may not see much of them. Why the Sturisoma panamense? They are from fare more fast flowing streams then the...
