Random shrimp deaths in mature tank

I experienced something like this - in my nano tank, shrimps stopped becoming berried and seemed to die off, of natural causes, one by one until the colony had completely died off. Tried everything, raising KH, GH, mineral rocks, changed all the filters and cleaned the RO unit, new plants etc...

How long can you travel for with CRS in a bag for?

Well, I had some shrimp shipped over from America a few years back - all 25 of them survived for about 2 days in a fairly small bag, so I would have thought 2 hours will be fine. Make sure there's some moss or plant for them to cling to though.

    How to eliminate snails

Thanks Paul. I might try loaches - I can always re-home them in another tank afterwards. Do you think they would eat the snails being as they are so small? They're literally pin pricks some of them. Assassin snails are good - I have them in my nano, but I feel they wouldn't clear the problem...

    How to eliminate snails

Hi all Unbelievable, I've added Ramshorn snails to my new setup, despite my best efforts not to. I'm most unhappy to be honest - I despise the little critters. It's going to be a CRS breeding tank, so obviously I can't use chemicals. There is some good news - they're newly hatched, im pretty...

can i have some shrimp in my community tank?

Cherry Shrimp should be fine in that setup once the Kribs are gone as they would probably eat the shrimp. I would advise getting fairly large once, since Serpae Tetras will nip them and possible eat them if they were small enough to fit in their mouths. You only need a few to start off-they...

    Loosing shrimps

Have you used any meds in the tank recently? Many contain copper, traces of which could still be lurking, and which may be causing problems.

    Shrimps and Snails

Oh, forgot to add - shrimp and snails are extremely intolerant of Copper, which is a large additive in wormers, so you won't be able to add shrimps or snails at all if you are planning on worming them. I don't worm my Discus at all, and I don't have a problem.

    Shrimps and Snails

I've kept a shoal of 6 Discus with Cherry shrimp no problems before, until I added another 3, and one seemed to recognise the cherry shrimp as a snack. Once he started, the others quickly cottoned on, so no more cherry shrimp there! I tried Amano's thinking they were bigger, but that didn't seem...
