    Planagram of tank

If you can hide the end of the stream at the back of the tank it will be more interesting. Being able to see a path/stream front to back clearly tends to shorten the depth of the tank (front to back).

    Dan's 80cm ADA/PFK shoot

Yeah, this was talked about a little while ago, although I can't remember much of the outcome! I suppose, just thinking about it again now, that it protects the entrants as well as anything else, as people can't steal ideas of others and enter them as their own.

    Hehe, I like your style.

Anyone entering the ADA 2008 aquascaping contest?

Well, the number of people hitting 'Yes' is definitely more than 3! Presumably though if you've shown photos of the tank then you can't enter it? How much does it cost to enter? I'm tempted, if only for a laugh as I know it's not up to much. I'd be more tempted with the AGA as they don't have...

    My try at aquascaping :0p

Hi and welcome to UKAPS. You've got a decent layout there. How are the plants growing now you've changed to ecocomplete? There's loads of information around here as you've probably seen and if you keep an eye out on the for sale subforum you'll be able to get some cheap/free plants to bulk your...

    The Gaze of Solemnity.

I love the composition with the rocks and don't notice the colour difference at all, maybe it's more noticeable in the flesh but looks good to me. I didn't notice the blue circled rock either, maybe I'm tension blind! Don't listen to Graeme, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

    120cm - Harlequins' Haven

How have you found keeping the vallis under control? I really like the look it gives, but it just grows too fast!

Some ideas to put to you

I like the idea of the white sand. It would make an excellent contrast with the green. I don't like large expanses of pale sand, but strips and islands would be good.

    College 5'x2'x2' 100g

JBL seem to be giving away loads at the moment. If JBL are reading this, can I have some stuff? :) edit: I thought there was a shoal of something in front of the wood, but I see now that it's the umbrella plant refered to!

Why use JBL with AS? I didn't notice at first, but I agree with the comment regarding the plant to the right. What are the fish? As it's on a budget could you let us know what the equipment is you've used? All in all, looks nice!

    What South American Plants

Ceratophylum demersum also appears everywhere. I'm sure there are others.

    What South American Plants

Spolit for choice really, there are loads from South America. Take a look at the Tropica web site as they list the origins. By the way, AFAIK all crypts are from Asia.

    Aquarium Background

Could these backgrounds be something that UKAPS could sell, like the aquascaping kit? I reckon it would be a good way of getting some funds. How much for a 36"x18" background? I've got a very tasteful(!) planted scene on my tank. I set it up 8 years ago when I young and naive and now I can't...

    Hardscape Help

I like the sand. Is ADA sand 'proper' sand, or is it something else? It looks quite coarse, how does it compare with say, silver sand? I'd be tempted to use it over a bottom layer, like laterite.

    PFK Tank

Could someone point me to a thread explaining PPS Pro? Everyone seems to talk about EI and although I've heard of PPS, I'm not sure what it is. Less water changes and slower growth seems good to me! Does it work as well with all plants or do you have less choice?

International Aquatic Plants Layout 2007 Winner.

I'm not sure how they achieved that. I thought it must be a stream of bubbles, but they'd be going to the water surface, so a diffuser it must be. But where are the edges? If they've photoshopped it to remove it then I think that's getting a bit naughty. I have no problem with adjusting...

    amano aquascaping competion

I remember reading an article by Peter in PFK a few years ago about setting up a tank to enter in the AGA, but I tried searching for it on the PFK site a few weeks ago with no luck. Are all the entries to the competition viewable on their site or is it just the top hundred or so?

    amano aquascaping competion

Even some of the really big names have done badly some years. I think alot of it depends on who's judging and of course how good the other entries are. I notice now that they'd dropped the 'natural' category. I seem to remember there used to be a category for low tech setups. Does anyone know...

    undersoil heating

Many people have had great results with using undersoil heating, but just as many seem to have had great results without it. I don't know if there have been any publicised experiments to compare with/without.
