    Flame Moss Wall

I've not noticed any tendency for my moss to grow towards light - moss benefits from really hard trimming anyway so you can keep it in shape and transplant any cuttings to "bald" patches. Just as an aside i followed SteveUK's advice and use Bonsai wire to secure all my moss and rhizome plants...

    Plant ID from TGM?

Re: Plant ID? difficult to tell without a close up. I'd guess at either eleocharis parvula or echinodorus tenellus but might well be wrong. Post up where you got the pic maybe - someone might know it

go for tropica 12grow staurogyne when you buy - it's so much easier than messing round with rockwool and the portion sizes are great! M

Yellowing of Leaves - Kinda see through.

quick way to check gas distribution it to have a good close look at the mist created by your atomizer - it should be reaching EVERYWHERE without exception. If it's not, fiddle with the flow until it does! As a couple of people have said you have plenty of flow, but if it doesn't work together...

Some of my Java Fern leaves have transparent tips

This makes sense (and, in theory at least, should be transferrable across most plants) as the lighter green means a lower density of chlorophyll (if i remember my GCSE biology correctly), as the plant needs less chlorophyll under bright conditions. interesting stuff! Matt

    Plant melt

if you're dosing daily carbon you'll be increasing your plant's nutrient demands across the board, so i'd say add a comprehensive fert regime and that should sort it out. NPK once a week and no micros doesn't sound enough to maintain plant health i'm afraid! Hope this helps, Matt

    Hydrocotyle verticillata and liquid carbon?

I know...it's going to go into my mossy shrimpy nano...which i started setting up last night and i'm unfeasibly excited about. I'm 32 for god's sake and i'm excited by a frickin' fish tank! Like i say i've not seen much (if any) growth but it's certainly holding its own! Cheers Matt

    Hydrocotyle verticillata and liquid carbon?

I've got some growing (all be it very slowly!) in a couple of low tech setups. been in there for a few weeks and it's not exactly taking off, but equally it's not dying back either and all leaves seem healthy and green. This is without either LC or gas in either tank hope this helps, matt

    Growing Mosses

i've just set up a moss growing shelf in a sunny spot using Asda tumblers - 3 quid for six! Looks fantastic with the different textures of the mosses. And they're all pearling after their first water change so something must be working! Thanks for the great info Matt. Mods - could this thread be...

    Growing Moss

incidentally i was thinking about something like a moss 'waterfall' as an experiment - shallow tray set at an angle with a filter intake at the bottom and spray bar at the top. Mosses then glued or sewn to foam pads and that way they should have loads of clean water flowing over them to move any...

    Superglue Moss

I use cyanoacrylate gel - (think it's Loctite brand) after a recommendation from someone on here. the important bit is to make sure it's cyanoacrylate glue as this is non-toxic, unlike some other glues Cheers! Matt

Which plants do well without co2 addition?

Not having CO2 is NOT a problem - this site, by it's very nature, is full of hi-tech tanks with everything on them, but once you scratch the surface you see that most members also keep one or more low-tech tanks (probably because they are much, much cheaper!). Hi tech tanks grow plants quickly...

    Microsorum "windelov" but cheaper!

Hello all, I've just been to my LFS (Ferrybridge Aquatics - brilliant for livestock!) and was browsing their plants when i came across "Microsorum Pteropus Decoupe". Look exactly like Microsorum Windelov but £3.50 a pot! Needless to say i bought both pots they had. I was jjust wondering if...
