Slightly random question, but I'm trying to find the name of a particular fish which I can't remember. About 1 inch long. Looks a bit like a small cichlid. Red vertical stripes Blue "shine" all over Males more colourful Blue trim to pectoral fin "hovers" in amongst plants at low level, have...

    Community fish

Couple to consider: Espei rasbora - similar to harlequins but smaller, more colourful & tighter shoaling. Rummynose tetra - one of the best shoalers.

    Shoaling fish

Espei rasbora (narrow wedge harlequins) shoal quite well & are smaller and more attractive than standard harlequins. I used to have green neons - lovely fish, but they weren't great at shaoling.

Stiphodon Sp. - The algae killer

Does that suggest that they may not be great with an hc carpet....

Stiphodon Sp. - The algae killer

Will be looking out for these. I understand they need well oxygenated water - are they OK with a CO2 system?

First fish I ever bought were 7 rummynose tatra, 2 years ago this month - 6 remain.

    Corpses

I agree. But if you can't find it / get to it, a small army of shrimp would help get rid pretty quick.

    Best mid/top schooling fish?

IMO rummynose are the nicest, close schooling fish - stunning in a planted tank, but mine are getting pretty big (for a suposedly small tetra!) and tend to stay near the bottom..... why I didn't suggest them

    Best mid/top schooling fish?

Espei rasbora (narrow wedge harlequins) - similar to harlequins, but nice copper coloured stripe, stay smaller & school tighter.

    Fish Stock for my 3ft

    Which Fish?

That was an option, but as it's only 70ltrs, a few more rummys & I'd be full up. I fancy a bit of variety in there. One day I'll get a big tank & have a massive shoal of rummys :D

    Which Fish?

My green neons all have NTD. 2 have gone and I expect the rest to die soon. I am trying to decide what to get next. They must be small and be able to live with my breeding CRS. I think I'm down to celestial pearl danios or endlers, but not sure which. What do you think?.......

Looking for a shoal of small fish for my 120L tank

Green neon tetras - sometimes called false neons - much nicer colouring than the normal neons (less red with a more turquoise than blue stripe), and smaller. rummy nose tetra are great shoalers, but get up to about 5cm. Both look great in a planted tank.
