how do people dim their lights

You need to have 0-10v analogue dimmable ballasts, about £55 for 2*54w and then a dimable controler which you can DIY if you are good with electronics or go for one of http://www.aquapro2000.de/en/Lighting-A ... :8650.html

    T5 Lighting for 8ft x 2ft x 2ft

Its worth noting that with halides most people use them for a midday burst, say no more than 90-120 mins, i have mine on for 30mins, if you could live with that might be worth looking into..?

    DIY T5 lighting

Hi ed I have two of those exact dimming ballasts you linked to in my discus tank (54w), you do not need a aquarium computer to control them just a dimming module. I bought mine from a guy in Greece i spoke through on APC. Il dig out his email and send it over to you...

    MH lighting

one 3' and one 4' I would only use MHs if i had the T5s to go with them as i only have them on for the midday bursts for 3-4hrs, otherwise it is too much light with just MHs on these size tanks James
