You need to have 0-10v analogue dimmable ballasts, about £55 for 2*54w and then a dimable controler which you can DIY if you are good with electronics or go for one of http://www.aquapro2000.de/en/Lighting-A ... :8650.html
Its worth noting that with halides most people use them for a midday burst, say no more than 90-120 mins, i have mine on for 30mins, if you could live with that might be worth looking into..?
I would DIY your lighitng in a tank that size. This is my setup on my 6.5' tank viewtopic.php?f=35&t=571
Arcadia leads connected to 2 x 54w twin dimmable ballasts with W reflectors and 3 x 150w halides, all balasts and control gear is in the stand where its safe.
HI,
You might find my journal of interest, tank is 6.5x2x2'. Recently i added another filter to help flow, but my co2/heating and lighting is performing well

Hi ed
I have two of those exact dimming ballasts you linked to in my discus tank (54w), you do not need a aquarium computer to control them just a dimming module. I bought mine from a guy in Greece i spoke through on APC. Il dig out his email and send it over to you...
Interesting thread
I am using 2 of these http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs- ... 54W-865-GE
on my new discus tank, along with 2 aquamedic 10ks & 3 x 8k MHs will let you know my thoughts next week when i get the tank wet.
one 3' and one 4'
I would only use MHs if i had the T5s to go with them as i only have them on for the midday bursts for 3-4hrs, otherwise it is too much light with just MHs on these size tanks

Strange, the link works for me?
anyway i meant the ones on the bottom of this page - http://www.viclite.com/astraaq.htm
I will have them all in the same setup soon so will be able to compare directly to the ADA bulb
