    Nitrate high, fish died??

O well, no news really, all water tests came back fine, good in a way, but not in another, as it would have given me something to work with. Have finally decided to dose for internal bacteria infection, as there's no signs on the fish, and it's not the water, dosing seems to be the only thing...

    Nitrate high, fish died??

don't know if it makes any difference, all the fish that died were the older ones- all about 3 years old at least. None of the younger ones we added less than a year ago are affected.

Hi, I have a drop checker now, and I use de ironised water for car batteries in it, then drop 3 drops of reagent in. The very first time it went blue, then green and stayed green. Now for the life of me I cannot get the water to go blue! It just goes yellow immediately. I've tried this so many...

    PH unstable with CO2.

Thanks so much, I was so worried it was going up and down. This is the first time I have ever used co2. At the moment I have it a 1 bubble every 3 seconds, but I hope to pick up more plants over the weekend so I will adjust accordingly. I will sit down with my partner and work out we have it...

    PH unstable with CO2.

Hi, I've ordered one, I'm just waiting for it to arrive, then I'll set it up. Do you think it's safe for my fish to go back in there then? Do you also run an extra airstone after the co2 has turned off? Maidenhead have advised me to do this. Thanks J.

    PH unstable with CO2.

Hi, i have now started to inject co2 into the tank, there's no fish in there at the moment, they are still in the other tank they were moved to when the braace broke. This has given us the oppotunity to start co2. However I'm having trouble with the PH, the tap water is 8.0,(these are taken...

Both posted at the same time Aaron! Ah ok thanks Aaron, I'll raise the ammonia at 9pm so as I can test tomorrow am, that gives the correct 12 hours to process through. Thanks for the explaination, I see what you mean now, that the nitrate is ok compared to the ammonia and nitrite. Ever heard...

    Cycling 4' tank, suspect results.

Ok, so what do I do next? Raise the ammonia? Water change and then add my fish/plants? I'm really not sure, this has never happened after such a short time before. Ta.

    Cycling 4' tank, suspect results.

Sorry Aaron now you have totally lost me. What has thrown me this time is that the nitrate has dropped to 10, without the normal 90% water change. So, do I raise the ammonia level again to 3ppm and then check all again in 12 hours, or do a massive water change, which I can't see will help...

    Cycling 4' tank, suspect results.

Hi, I'm cycling a 4' tank, and I'm on to the second stage, well I was... after a week the ammonia has dropped to 0, so I raised back up to 3ppm. Nitrite was off the scale, 48 hours later ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10. Where on earth do I go from here? I have the fish ready to transfer...
