Here's what I think: Aquascaping is never about the budget. It is about the nature. You can do great setups on low budget and expensive bad ones. On the other side just think how much one spends on gas or cars or u name it... Everyone with their own madness, right? :)

Steve, this rock is imho the most difficult to be used in a hardscape of this kind. It is petrified wood from the Chinese-Mongolian border - the Continental Pole (!) ;) Problem is that it is really difficult to raise these rocks as they are more roundish. So I had to build a glued construction...

Thx guys. Floaters will go as soon as the tank is ready. We had algae problems because of the slow-growing Brasiliensis. Instead of stems we used these to have some "fast-growing-ammonia-and-nutrient-eating" load in the tank. It seems they helped. But I don't like it, so it will be taken out...

I wouldn't do that... The color of your fish contrasts well with the green of the plants and the brown wood... Adding red would only "dissolve" this concise and decisive choice. Like a "spoiler". :)

I suspect, that much of the lower part of the wood in #1 and #2 will be covered by the plants, so I guess there's no point in putting something that big in the tank that won't show it's full potential.

You mean the excel chart? It doesn't matter, works with both. It was mainly planned to work diluted ferts though. You just need to add the amount of dry powders added to a certain amount of water, and the dosing quantities in ml. Just enter 100ml to the DI Water (last row in the second box)...

Mark, I checked the pictures from your blog. I think you had HM. The leaves are just longer then the HC which has more rounded leaves. You can check my journal below, I only have HM and HC in my nano at the moment. Those in the TGM tank are definitely HM.

Dan, I might be wrong here, but doesn't Barr rule #1 say that nutrients do not cause algae? If the rule stands, Howard could easily dose full amounts without algae danger.

saintly, looking at your tank pictures I just realized that in my nano tank I'll have to put my Hemianthus Micranthemoides in the BG instead of the mid-ground. Too much growth for just 24cm (9") of height. Funny I bought it to be a FG plant. :) Thanks for the inspiration, mate.
