Update on the tank

The cloudy water just got worse and worse to the point that you couldn't see in and the filter was filling up with sludge. The tank is being torn down at the moment and I will be doing a new scape in this tank and doing a nano for my son.

I thought it was time to share some pictures of my tank as it looks at the moment. It needs tidying up and the plants need to recover from having no co2 for the past 3 weeks.

Tank specs are, Tank: 160L opti-white Light: Arcadia 150w MH (on for 7 hours per day) Filter: Eheim e3 2078 + power head total turn over 2000L/h ish Co2: DIY system with up atomiser (this goes in quite fast because of the light) Ferts: EI fert system with weekly waterchange Cheers Matt

Cheers, Yep the Hydrocotyle is from that, there is a large rock under that ;) a big trim is needed. I have a 150w metal halide and the tank is 160L Red plant is Proserpinaca Paulustris, red plants need more light in my experance. Cheers Matt

I have been having a think about your problems with the HC, i have managed to grow it the 2nd time i tryed. the first time i had a lot of problems with it. it didnt realy melt but it wouldnt grow spread and just came free from the substrate then got full of algae. What is your water like PH...

I do realy like the look of this tank, it looks like a Dutch style tank and i think it will look quite impresive when you get it to grow in!!! :thumbup:

all the instructions are on the side of the bottel i think it is 5 ml per 50l per week. it has been said it can effect shrimp but i use it and all my shrimp are healthy and hapily breeding away.

I hanvt used this system, but unstable co2 will trigger algae in the tank. i would do exactley what you are going to do and supply the flow down towards the bottom on the aquairum you should be trying to set up a flow that can supply nutrients to all the plants in your tank. :D

how much turn oner do you have (your filters L/hour) this should be 10x the volume of the tank IMO the juel internal filter isnt enough to supply this flow. if this is low then you could add a power head. HC loves CO2 how are you ahhing this to the tank. i have the same algae in my tank because...
