    Question ref Polarizing Filter?

Ceg more or less has it all down. I wouldn't bother. Spend a little bit of time making sure reflections aren't an issue means a PF is redundant. A decent one will cost a few quid, about 90+ for a 77mm that could go on better things. I've always been taught reflections travel at right angles so...

Which one ? Help please :)

I have this lens and it's one of my favourite. You can buy close up filters from eBay and the like that allow you to take close up photos, it's basically a glass element that screws onto the front. While not true macro it does allow much shorter focusing distances and can get really good shots.

Old royal Navy torpedo Testing Station

Yes HDR as a starting point but worked using lots of layers in PS. I think this was shot in raw, it was taken a while ago on my old 40d. Arroachar is a great wee place never been to the inn, but will next time!

Post Processing - getting rid of distortion

I almost always shoot raw. It's that bit more forgiving. I find that it's key for consistancy in images, for example at a wedding the ability to have all shots 'the same' as it were I think you'd struggle if you were toshoot in jpeg. When your shooting jpeg the camera does the thinking for you...

    Tripod Help

I have the Manfrotto 055XPROB with the 804RC2 head. Its a great bit of kit totally bomb proof and built to last, highly recommended. As for the ball head, I don't like then myself, but then again haven't used a quality unit like a manfrotto only cheaper ones and the couldn't take the weight of...

    some phototips

If your camera has it, shoot in RAW mode as opposed to jpeg and convert photos in some raw processing software. This will give you more control over the colours.

    Canon 350D

Canons L series lenses are their top of the range....well range! Basically the lower the aperture number the wider the aperture and the faster the lens. Hence why it's known as fast glass. Typically the prime lenses, fixed focal length, offer better optic quality and wider apertures and, of...

    Canon 350D

Well done chooseing a canon! My weapon of choice. I've used the 40d and 5d extensively and to be honest still get blown away by images taken by so called 'lower end' cameras. It's not what you've got it's what you do with it that counts. I'll second the thoughs on ditching the kit lens in...

    Dead camera what to get?

I've seen you lusting after it in a few posts George! The quality of your photos, both online and what I've seen in print, justifies the expense! To be honest everything that i've came across in aquascaping since I came to it about a month ago has featured your work in some way. PFK, This...

    Dead camera what to get?

I can very much recommend the 5d mkII. used a 40d for a while but the set up to the 5d is worth it for the High ISO performance alone. Outstrips my ability but its nice to have a vice of two!
