Hi Ed, thanks for your reply. I was more thinking of trying either as a preventive measure against bacteria, algae etc. The reason I am asking is for one, to see what everyone else thinks and two I got both an ozone processor and a UV when I bought the tank and just haven't bothered to connect...
Hi Everyone,
What is the general view about using an Ozone Processor / Generator in a planted tank? Would you prefer to use a UV or do you think that both are just a waste of energy?
Very interesting indeed! Thanks Viktor.
This however also leaves the question as to how does the carbon differentiate between the good and the bad stuff it absorbs? ie. How would carbon absorb the fish waster, tannins etc. and not absorb the good stuff as well such as plant ferts?
i believe that carbon has its benefits and I have even been told by one of our local lfs that he believes that carbon is important however, I still wonder whether it will absorb all the ferts i put into the tank....
I recently got a brand new Juwel Trigon 350 and the filter comes with a carbon and a nitrate sponge. I use the EI method for dosing.
Should I remove these sponges? I read that especially carbon will absorb most of the ferts which kinda defeats the purpose of the exercise..... on the other hand...
