    Most expensive livestock

not to much from me - I think paid around £50 for a green phantom pleco. I would pay very well for a nice dark plakat fighter I would pay fair amount for a good good pair of apistogramma cacatuoides if someone new a top notch breeder or supplier. some of the arrowana prices i have seen are...

    algae seaweed for ottos

Hey Good to see your thinking about your clean up crew :) nothing nice about a scrawny Otto. I leave my light of alllllllll day and have oxygen pump on. I don't fertilise and no co2....perfect recipe! Obviously if you want a nice clean tank it can't be done like that. I'd get a secondary tank...

I think I did something really stupid....

+1 Sorry mate but you need to warm the water before had and use dechlorinator ... My method had always been to have a bucket with an internal filter chucked in to circulate the water and mix it up good. I had a heater in there too. Doesn't have to be for long, but straight from the tape is a...

Small interesting/unusual fishes - suggestions wanted

Yeah mate you HAVE to!! You could easily fill half a dozen tanks with apisto's. How about a puffer tank? You could have a dozen dwarfs in a mega planted tank or I think it's a spotted or figure 8?

Garbage cleaners ?? Hmmmm....you say you have no algae so what kind of cleaner fish are you after I'm confused, surely you don't mean a fish that eats fecal matter :/ this doesn't exist, and if you don't have algae but want some algae eaters such as otto's gobies or a shrimp gang than you...

I had 3 in a 30l well Planted, they had a constant supply of snails from my large tanks filter, and I would always have some bloodworm or brineshrimp on the way past tue Lfs every few days. Great colourings and behaviour, I moved them onto my brother inlaw who was fascinated by the :)

im getting okai with my Apisto caca's and Amano shrimp, but cheap cherries would be the most out there i would go with adding any other shrimp to the tank. if they where ok with them id add a better quality cherry shrimp....but that would be it. in a dense 5 footer id say you should be okai...

30 litre/6 gallon could I get a pair of dwarf cichlids?

good advice on the puffers they are good if you can spare a small tankor bucket to culture some snails, but get them going before you get the puffers as mine tucked away quite a few per sitting. Luckily my large externall on my dempsey tank was breeeeaming with snails for them. Darrel ill...

30 litre/6 gallon could I get a pair of dwarf cichlids?

Tbh if your looking for something that is happy long term with just dry foods I'd steer clear of apisto's mate mine take them but only a few and let the rest fall to the floor. That last video what size is the tank, the apisto's look happy in there and the female especially very very yellow.

Corydoras (cory) sterbai catfish clamped/rotting mouth/tail?

Re: Corydoras (cory) sterbai catfish clamped/rotting mouth/t Your clearly keeping up tank maintenance, and have adequate filtration, diet seems good, and you have a relatively soft substrate. I did have a look around other forums for an answer, and found that barbs get simply wear down even on...

    glowlight danios

How about trying some floating plants? Amazon frogbit is a good one. Are they still alive? Try covering the tank for the night, if what you cover it with is clear maybe even leave it on for the 1st few days until they are settled? Stunning fish though.

Corydoras (cory) sterbai catfish clamped/rotting mouth/tail?

Re: Corydoras (cory) sterbai catfish clamped/rotting mouth/t Do you think it could be fighting between the pair, I've always read that they should be kept in groups of 6, you could probably do 4 atleast if you stuck for space, but then again why compamise the fish, get a fish that is happy with...

no way. . . . could it be?

I tried the same with an oscar i found in a pirahna tank ripped to shreds, but you have to have picture of it and that doesn't mean the fish in the tank that means the fish in the tank, the tank in the shop ect, I took the oscar home demanded they took it out, he is nursed back to health now. I...
  43. nayr88

no way. . . . could it be?

Well why put it in a display tank with other fish? Why not put it in a tank out the back. We cannot say if it was long term, but it for sure wasn't a 'dip' as they have quarantine tanks out tank out back why not dip them in one of those? This tank had angels and a small schoaling fish in and...
  44. nayr88

no way. . . . could it be?

I really have no idea how long it had been in there, it couldn't of been long though. Surely the fsh would of been bouncing all over the tank when it went in! and who ever put it realise wow this fish isn't liking this water something must be up.

    Keeping Dwarf Puffers

The dwarf puffers are great, proper little characters. A friend of mine kept a group of 5 in a planted 30liter with 2 ottos, probably overstocked but it worked. The only problem being the feeding witch I found with my one in my nano, he rid'd the tank of snails in hours so I had to feed blood...

Plants that are best for Dwarf Puffer's

a little bit more info on the tank would help, things such as what wattage the light is, or if yourll be dosing nutrient into the tank for the plants, the puffer doesnt care what species of plant, the plants just make the puffer feel more secure and confident, but basic plants such a crypts...

    chocolate gourami please help

Thanks for the info matt, very useful I was unaware that black water had no minerals added, I suppose the minerals and 'goodness' comes from what you use to 'tam' the water. With the water hardness right down aswell as the TDS what would you recommend to stain the water? I have what look like...

    chocolate gourami please help

Good idea on the drip acclimatizing, I probably would of left it closer to 5hours and definitely would of turned of the power head. If you haven't then turn of the power head and see how they do but as you've pointed out these fish are very very fragile so it may be a lost cause. I hope they...
