alot of people use this method , but alot dont because they say it sometimes get stuck in and comes out in 1 big bubble. i think thats only a problem with low output filters though.
i have not used this method because i read an amano article saying that the high amount of co2 in the filter can...
what you should do according to amano is raise the lily when lights go out to add o2 to the water for the bacteria. the bacteria get o2 from the plants during the day from photosythesis. high co2 levels can lower the numbers of bacteria in the tank. i have tried this and found that it does help.
alot fo people use eden 501s for small nanos although some people have said with an inline heater the flow rate is killed i use a eheim 2211 these are good, pretty small but hard to find.
Tetra have identified a problem with this range of filters. The hose adaptor unit ball valve spindles can leak water, which then fills up the compartments within the top of the filter and then overflows down the sides of the canister. This leads the customer to think that the main canister seal...
some people found that they leak out the filter compartment but apparently it leakes from a different part then floods another part i cant really remember but look in the filteration section and theres a thread i think on the second page
i just bought one a few hours ago they seem to have good and bad points but with the customer support being so good i went for it as if you have problems they can sort it
