No ideas on this...?
I live in Staines and have had the devils own job trying to find someone to refill a single FE. I now have two empty 5Kg FE's and have had to switch my tank to low tech as i think it is horrendously wasteful to keep scrapping FEs and buying new ones?!
Is there no viable...
yep second that - if you like do a search on carbo plus on most planted tank websites and these electrolysis systems get a slating.
I had one and it certainly did not work on a tank of 400l or so and would have been prohibitively expensive to run for any length of time...
Loads of debate from...
I've been labouring under a misconception about this then - this is discussed in the barrreport forum in greater detail. Tom feels mine is a common mistake made. He goes on to discuss other technicalities like O2's relative insolubility in water etc.
hmmm...this whole pearling issues gives me food for thought. I was under the impression that pearling is also a function of how saturated your water already is with O2. That is to say that the act of photosynthesis causes the plant to give off O2 - if the water already has high O2 saturation (as...
I think we can infer from the dearth of replies that not many people on this forum use the d-d regs with FEs.
I am reluctant to fork out and find it doesnt fit on!
One other option is the beverage co2 cannisters mentioned in another post as these have upward facing threads at the top of the...
Makes sense to me (obviously) - my opinion is still that these d-d regs wont fit on a standard co2 FE unless someone with one on an FE tells me differently. I dont want to buy an FE only to find the reg wont screw into it....
Instead I have bought some 600gm cannisters from machine mart....
The site seems to say that the £20 is for 'deposit' amount. One presumes then that you dont 'own' the cylinder as such? Also they dont look brand new either?
When you enquire about owning/delivery of the cylinders they only deliver in batches of cylinders?
aaaahh...cheers
unfortunate its refillls only by the looks of it (you cant buy the cylinders individually) but is much cheaper than anything i have seen so far. Ideal for you in cheshire....
To be honest i think the whole reg will catch on the shoulder of the cylinder. Its quite a long reg. The reg is detailed here:
http://www.deltecaquariumsolutions.com/ ... ns_001.pdf
Undernaeth valve E is where the unit screws onto the co2 cylinder - as you can see there is a lot of regulator...
Take your standard 2Kg CO2 FE. Take your standard D-D regulator. Looking at the FEs at work, how on earth does the regulator body clear the 'shoulder' of the CO2 tank when screwing into the thread at the side of the handle? Obviously not a problem on the 600gm bottles as the regulator is top...
I would have thought proper co2 tubing is well stiff enough? Its almost as stiff as mains pressure RO tubing - almost. Thats if you are using proper co2 tubing?
I have read silicone tubing will perish and leak and is not be used fior co2....
I use a Rhinox 2000 on my 400 litre and it seems to cope ok? Give the 5000 a go? I have to use a reasonably high bps count though (2bps+). I dont know if there is a correlation between using smaller diffusers and therefore having to use more CO2 than a couple of diffusers? Seems the co2 needed...
anything that can be done about co2 dump then? I cant tell as i only have the one guage which only reads 1 bar (manufacturers recomended 'coarse valve' pressure) now so if it loses pressure then i am not sure ill be able to tell?
Thing that concerns me is that the solenoid is actually part of the regulator itself (part of a co2 kit) and so is, by sheer dint of being very close, heating the regulator up.
I am not sure that is the best thing to do with something that is keeping 100 odd psi of co2 under control?
Oh and...
Seems this was the exact problem. Received and installed my new D-D co2 pressurised system and diffuser tonight, within 2-3 hours the drop checker reagent was turning to greeny blue and then on to green. Also some of my plants had started pearling - which is good news! Was totally surprised by...
Someone on another forum suggested that i couldnt possibly be outgassing all of my c2 as he used a massive sump system and believed he would outgas far more than i would ever with my piddly eheim - yet he still maintains acceptable levels of co2 in his tank! Though it has to be said he uses an...
i have just edited my earlier post with some more detail. The three 55w lamps are giesemann floraplus lamps, one interpet 55w daylight plus and and interpet 55w triplus.
ok firstly thanks for the replies - on the wet/dry - this is not a sealed unit as people may think - there is an air inlet hose that allows air into the chamber unit to be mixed with water in the media chamber. Therefore it is not sealed in the same way an ordinary cannister is. They are...
I have recently planted out a 400 litre tank with some relatively undemanding plants - swords, hygrophila, vallis etc etc. I wanted to have this tank co2 injected and opted (somewhat inadvisably) for the carbo plus system. After much discussion on the american planted tank forum and research on...
