    need help with my sump

Ok, a bit more analysis. I've made some assumptions as follow 1 - Your tank height including stands is 1.5m 2 - The pump is running at 100% Your main tank is ~600 litres. Taking into account the head on the pump, you'll be getting 6000l/h The main open drain will flow ~18000l/h running fully...

    need help with my sump

@warriors Just for clarity could you confirm the function of each pipe in the weir photo, and also the role of the four pipe in the picture showing the right hand end of the sump. The idea with a Bean overflow is that all the control is done using the gate valve, which is on the primary drain...

@DrPhilG Can you provide more details of your sump setup, drains & weir configuration. People can then probably help out, probably best as a new thread.

    Oase BioMaster Thermo External Filter

It's probably not just the filter itself, but the stand acting as an amplifier. Maybe try moving it round in the cabinet, or even adding a house brick/large stone next to it to damp the vibrationss

    Heating

I agree, a sump is looking odd on favourite.I'm going to have the base of the aquarium drilled which means I've got multiple options in the future. Cost is a factor, but not a deciding one, but if you consider on a ~500L aquarium you're probably looking at 2 large canister filters, then a sump...

    Heating

Thanks for the response, I've update the first post with tank size. I'm thinking about a sump, or possibly canister filters with direct plumbing in the back wall as I'd like to keep the rim of the aquarium as 'clean' as possible. Obviously with a sump come some down sides, mainly off gassing...

    Heating

Looking for ideas on 'out of tank' heating, so either in filter, I believe Oase, and Ehiem have offerings, or in-line, hydor used to be the go to in-line heater, are there any others out there. **NEW INFO** In response to replies: I'm looking at a ~400L tank, 120x60x60cm internal dimensions.
