My first Eheim classic 600 (2217) again bad luck...

That sounds like when one of my 2217's impeller is worn out and losing balance. It is dead silent now with a new impeller set. But yours are new and it makes me concerned the next time I buy the part because it seems their QC is getting worse since there are quite a few unhappy first time buyers.

Juwel Rio 240 - Power head placement

Actually that is not true about lighting level. Looking at the layout-81, they even doubled the stock lighting, from 2x45W to 4x45w with reflectors (Juwel 180). https://ukaps.org/forum/threads/tropica-layout-81.38680/ By the way, I think they introduced fish late in the process.

Filter Death. Replacement required urgently. HELP!

The Pro 4 600 is just a bit more powerful than 2073 (1250 vs 1050 LPH, same 16 watt, same 1.8m pump head spec), it is probably not too powerful if you're afraid 2073 is not powerful enough. I think the main difference between the two is filter media volume. But Pro 3 (only bad batch?) has a bad...

    Help choosing

They are different but pressure and restriction can affect flow rate. Otherwise the e701's 700 lph would not reduce to 350-400 lph in real world use. Pump head spec is there to show how well it can pump through restriction (gravity, bended pipes, CO2 reactor, in-line heater, etc.). It is very...

    Help choosing

It is relevant. Because a pump with higher head height can create higher pressure. So it can pump water through restriction better than a pump with lower head spec. Otherwise manufacturers would all use wave maker pumps in canisters by now, 3000 LPH at 6w :wideyed:

    Help choosing

I think the Eheim 250 and JBL e701 are not much different in real world use. Eheim openly show the pump head high data (the power of the pump to withstand clogging) while JBL don't. Flow rate alone doesn't really mean much in real world use but can be a powerful marketing tool. This is from...

Nah, at worst that would just cause rattle sound, not leak.

    Eheim Classic 2217/600 pump leaking

You can open the pump-head lid using a screw driver push the levers. Then you should clearly see what is the problem. I think it is either the oring connecting the lid's pipe to the pump's pipe (part no. 7250600) or the resin block that the pump buried in. Anyway, I would just replace the...

Who Owns A Eheim Classic External Filter?

Edit: I don't count lowering pump head to gain more flow (in newer filters) as being more efficient.

Who Owns A Eheim Classic External Filter?

In summary, I think the advantages of newer filters (compared to the Classics) lie in convenience (media baskets, priming), electronically adjustable flow rate, and media volume. Not in power consumption. I don't count lowering pump head to gain more flow as such.

Who Owns A Eheim Classic External Filter?

from https://www.zooplus.de/pictures/product/JBL_CristalProfi_e701_greenline.pdf It would be interesting to compare the e901 with the Classic 350 (15w, 620l/h, 1.8 metre pump head max) after a month of use. When I ran my Classic 250 (8w) with 2 litres of very fine media (Seachem Matrix...

Who Owns A Eheim Classic External Filter?

I think the power consumption is fine. It's not that their pumps are not efficient. Those new filters with higher flow rate and lower wattage have lower head max (pressure) than the classics. Which means they are more sensitive to clogging.

Who Owns A Eheim Classic External Filter?

I've been using two 2217's for 5-6 years, and a 2213 for 2 years now. I think they're good, never try other models/brands though. I use media bags in 2217 for easier maintenance. The 2213 already came with its own basket. I'm surprised you have to buy the double taps separately, mine came...

    CPR overflow on Fluval FX6

Strong flow from the FX6 can overwhelm a surface skimmer like that. Eheim has the same problem with its 3535 surface extractor when connected to a big canister like the 2080 or 2260. So they offer the t-connector which allows you to use the original inflow pipe and the 3535 simultaneously to...

Then you risk your filter running dry when water gets evaporated and the level drops below the overflow's opening.
