I see my Otos bully through Amano's a few time while feeding. Cories are normally the most shy. But Amano's would give way to the approaching Cories. I think Amano's are not without weak spots. Their legs can be broken when being hit. Though they can regrow it but it's certainly not fun for...
Cories are cute, no doubt. But if I'm to start a new tank. I will not add them. I think they're not suitable for planted tanks. Balancing their needs and the tank's cleanliness is a challenge (algae, especially BBA). They need a lot of food to do well and they don't eat algae. More frequent...
Specifically, I would like to feed mine at 2 cories a wafer (Hikari Sinking Wafers) per day but there are also shrimp and Otos sharing the food. So I end up 1 cory a wafer a day.
The first Ember's body looks opaque, could be from infection in the muscle. The whitish area could be columnaris. And that dark line on the body, I don't know what it is. But most suffering Embers have it. I'm afraid both have no chance to survive.
Hey ZOZO, I'm sure it's not your intention. I've been reading your posts and it seems you take care of your fish better than me .
It is just that there are many misunderstanding comments on the video's page.
Yeah, it's a mixed feeling. :)
While the video might make you feel bad, this info might make you feel a bit better.
The place in that video is also shown in Mikolji's Freshwater Natural Aquarium Documentary
(from 11:00 onwards)
The pool dried out in dry season, causing all the fish there to die.
So, although I think it...
Not sure if that's the species (I can't find any photo of them)
but I happen to have an inch long Oto cat which is about
half the size of "regular" ones and looks full-grown.
The rims of the eyeballs look bright at some angle, not sure why.
I've found there is no special requirement in...

Compare to what I think the best image about this disease in Ember tetras.

Keeping fish can be a stressful hobby. Sorry when a fish looks weak and showing a symptom of disease,
it's most likely too late. I would just place it in the breeder net and let it die there.
Yesterday's morning (before CO2 injection), I scooped a green neon out of my tank because it was whirling around uncontrollably.
I put it in a bucket with an air stone. It stopped moving and floated like a dead fish but still breathing very lightly... I used a flashlight and a magnifying glass...
All of my Oto cats eat the same food as Corie cats (NLS Surface Feeder, ADA AP-2, Hikari Sinking Wafers).
A new Oto will eventually adapt to eat the food within a few months (yes it takes quite long), IME.
Shrimps are far more effective to clean everywhere in a tank: substrate, plants, hardscape, etc.
Cories are lovely. Although if I could go back, I wouldn't have them. They need large amount of
food, add more waste than being a cleaner.
I suspect it is the same unknown illness among Ember tetras. It may look blue or black under different lightings. You can even spot some Embers with the symptom in an ADA official video on YouTube.
IME, some started with a tiny black dot, some started with black line along the body. Then the...
