Does anyone know the correct latin name name for this plant? Just curious, I see it referred to as Eleocharis sp. Japan or Eleocharis sp. Japanese hairgrass but neither of those I would imagine is the correct scientific name especially the last one :D

Use a brush and paint the excel onto the Anubias if they can be removed from the tank.

I think its pretty common on a lot of different ferns, happens to my ferns as well.

Some types of Vallis (read, most types) and excel do not mix, instant melt in some cases, same with Egeria densa. Excel does not seem to have any affect on Vallis nana in my tanks either.

I have grown all of them with no problems, I don't know why you are experiencing difficulty with the narrow leaf fern George, it does well in my tanks but a slow grower. It usually does better with more light in my tanks than a low light situation. I think someone else posted on this before...

The moss I purchased from Aquaticmagic as "weeping moss" attaches after a while, attaches good as well, I had to scrape it off some rocks I wanted to reuse without the moss, it was hard to get off without doing that. It also weeps quite nicely, so maybe its just a different variation of moss...

I find my ferns do a lot better with more light, they always looked a bit dull when grown below >1.5WPG, give the same fern more light and it does great for me.

Temperature seems a bit on the high side, the Heteranthera zosterifolia can get quite big, the blyxa can melt initially when planted but normally comes back good, the glosso needs a good bit of light to stay compact >2.5-3WPG.

Yes I have used this plant in the past, tough plant, fast grower when it gets going, lots of things you can do with it alright. Some of the mini liveworts are probably more useful though if you are using a small tank for scaping purposes, these usually grow quite slowly though.

Ok thanks everyone I will give it a try, I just picked up a large pot from the pond secion in the garden centre for €3 :D will give it a haircut and see how it goes, very cheap for the size of the pot, must be about 4x4 inches, makes normal size Tropica pots look tiny for half the price!
