Good afternoon all 🙂
This will come across as such a simple question and I’ve had the light for 4 years so really shouldn’t be asking this after all that time :/
I’m a bit of a technophobe and do not find the app that easy at all

Can any one advise the best settings to use on a Fluval Aquasky 380mm
I typically have it on for 8 hrs a day but want to minimise algae build up which happens a lot
I love a planted aquarium and will be adding new plants to it very soon and I want to make sure they will be getting enough light but not so much that algae blooms again
Many thanks in advance

Hi Again, slow afternoon at work, so surfing the forums!

I'm not that familiar with your particular light, however my understanding is that it's not too strong. So, id do a couple of things:
  • reduce light to 80%
  • get a load more plants in there. I think you may have diatoms growing on your Vallis. To manage those plant more plants and also put in the floating plants (frogbit) you've been offered. You can even use plants such as Hygrophila Diformis or Limnophila sessiliflora (both fast growing stems) and float those in the tank. They'll help reduce light beneath them. You'll need to make sure that you add sufficient fertiliser to feed them. Increasing the plant mass means that they will outcompete the algae.
