Any advice please?

My rio 125 ,lowtech planted tank is thriving, fish and plants both very healthy, and very little algae.Problem is I keep getting outbreaks of little black furry balls of algae which roll about the substrate eventually gathering under the filter, and very unsightly if nothing else?

Any help welcome.

Sounds more like moldy food to me. Algae attaches itself firmly to plants, gravel, ornaments or glass (unless its green water).

Post a pic and we can tell for sure.
