Cleaning up-atomizer?

Hi,
I have an up atomizer which needs a clean. Anyone any suggestions on the best way of doing this? i used to soak my glass diffuser in bleach but don't fancy soaking this plastic one in bleach. I have used an old toothbrush to give the inside a scrub but i think it could do with a soaking in something.

Why does it need cleaning? Has it stopped working?

I just rinse mine under tap water. I'd imagine scrubbing would damage the ceramic. At most maybe a quick once through with a bottle brush or similar. But they shouldn't even get dirty as they should be on the outflow of the filter.

It seems to be throwing out bigger bubbles than before. I have it on the outflow pipe but these pipes still need a good clean every few weeks.

Possibly Interpet plastic plant cleaner, it's Hydrogen Peroxide which you dilute and leave it soaking for 24 hours. I would try it with a similar type of plastic first though to make sure. Maybe stick a spare glass one in the tank while it's soaking.
