I have just set up a 500 L tank with two 1500 L/hr filters both with carbon.
I have filled the bare tank twice and left for a week, yet the bog wood is still getting covered in a mould.
Should I dose the tank with Potassium permanganate ? not only is the wood covered in mould but the water has gone murky dull and smelly.
What can I do
Cheers

Hi all,
Take it out of the tank and give it a good scrub with a brush (wire is really good), this will remove any mould and soft wood bits. Then put it back in and keep changing the water.

The mould has grown because not all of the sap had left the wood (it may have been live when it was cut) when it was dried.

cheers Darrel
