Does anyone have a recommendation for a tiny internal surface skimmer for a nano tank please? I have a small internal filter already. Thanks

You could remove the top two sections from the eheim skimmer and get something printed to sit on top?

I’m not sure why you want one and what size Nano you have but I’ve tried several skimmers and not found them very effective.
Someone on here suggested an airstone instead for stopping an oily film developing so that’s what I’ve been using and it works.
I have shrimps in both of my Nano’s so trying to prevent them being sucked into a skimmer was also problematic.

Thanks, maybe overkill for me!

Thanks for idea, I thought airstones were passe when I rejoined this hobby 2 decades on! I'll try retro then..

Thanks for all the replies and ideas. The humble air pump and wood diffuser seem a very simple solution and the least amount of junk in the tank.

Hi all,

Just have it on a timer to come on for a couple of hours in the everning after lights out, it will degas any residual CO2 (if you are a CO2 user) and should get rid of any surface scum.

Things go in and out of fashion all the time, often for no good reason. A lot of <"serious fish keeper / breeders"> use an air ring and piston air pump, I certainly would if I had a fish-house. The only real difference is that the preferred option is now usually a <"Hamburg Matten Filter and Czech style air-lifter">, rather than an <"undergravel filter and uplift tube">.

cheers Darrel
