Once I have moved and settled.
I am planning on visiting the massive aquarium.

Those who have been in the past, are there any recommendations for where to stay nearby etc. Budget wise no more than £400 for the hotel for a few days would be good.
Will be going a few times as advised on a few vlogs to go after 1830 when it's empty, and you can enjoy the whole expanse without interruption.

And good eateries etc

TIA

I will be there in three weeks time 😉 looking forward to my 4th visit! 🙂

Around the area is not that cheap, have a look in Airbnb, sometimes you find niche places to stay with decent prices!

There is a large shopping centre nearby with lots of places to eat in there, and the area around is quite trendy too! The Casino is worth a visit also but leave your cash at the hotel! lol

Last summer I used airb&b, which was not expensive right in the city centre.
And it wasn't at all busy when I attended at opening time

Cool thanks for the info. I have e never used AirBnB so will have a look, as was just checking on booking.com for pricing.

We have used the system in many places, we have had a few basic ones and a few that were a bit close and personal but that was a long time ago, now we have a better idea of what to look for, it is our chosen form of travel accommodation.
Personally we like ‘self contained with own entrance’, not always cheap but there are some incredible deals out there!

Same for us too @Gill. So far no real surprises, worked out great, to be recommended. Remember Google is your friend though, research is key.

You can also play any gambling game on the site right in your room!
Have you visited this place, what do you think? The thing is, my wife and I are planning to go there too.

It is a wonderful place to visit. Just a shame that the fish in Planted Forest Display have been so neglected. And the numbers have not been refreshed or added to.
I spent hours in there the 1st time I went. Friend spent a good hr just sitting and watching the main marine display. Watching the natural behaviour at the cleaning stations was alot of fun.

As Said there is a big shopping district within a short walk from the Oceanrio which is open pretty late, and plenty of very good Eateries. The Burger place was amazing and i Devoured mine with gusto.
I would also recommend getting one of the discount cards before you fly out and collect at the airport on the way out. It gives you a good price for many of the attractions thru the app and also bundles for a nice day out.

Theres always plenty on in an around the squares with people performing etc.
I did not like how blatant the Drug Sellers were in the evenings, just openly standing around and offering various concoctions.

Tips:
DO NOT USE Taxis, as they charge an astronomical price compared to uber.
Example 5 mins journey - Uber 4.23 Taxi 15.00
Lisbon Central by the bus/train station to Sintra 45 mins journey - Uber 23.00 Taxi 54.00

i stayed in a wonderful new penthouse in the Orient district. And it was so convenient to walk to the Oceanrio. And only 5 mins from the Airport.

I am replying to this a little bit late but it may benefit others who see it. I also really liked the Vasco De Gama aquarium which is a small munipal one on the other side of the city. It was a few years back but they had a display of a reconstruction of an old fashioned / antique style unheated framed tank (probably something modern but made to look that way) with paradise fish. It was insightful to say the least.

On the eating front, I don't know if the Sushi place in the shopping centre near Oriente station is still there, but it's a help-yourself affair priced by weight. If you go near 12 noon everything's still mostly fresh.
