Old bulbs

Hi,
I've always wondered how the ageing of bulbs affected their performance, brightness and in turn our plants.
I have read that they should be replaced every 6 months or so, but this seems extreme.
What do others feel?
Thanks
Gavin

Good man! Cheers Clive, thats what I wanted to hear.
I have my daughters 2ft which we got given a year or so back. It's bulb is very low light and I suspect it has never ever been replaced. Do bulbs last 10 years!???
I'd like to try something just a tad brighter. Scary as there's no CO2, but if I do should I shave the 13hour potoperiod to 6 or so for a while and gradually bring it back up to 8 or so?
Cheers
Gavin

Hi G,
Yeah, well 10 years might qualify you for a spot in Guinness World Book of Records.

Seems like a pretty good plan to go gradually when you up the intensity.

Cheers,
